View Full Version : Rogue Dms Tested??
TheGreatApaum 09-04-2006, 06:31 PM I searched with the forum engine and google engine and I could not find any answers. So I thought I ask.
Has anyone that has a ROGUE DMS exhaust for an E36 M3 pass a smog inspection? Or Decibel inspection?
I recently got several fix it tickets for loud exhaust and other things. I want to know what the decibel level for the ROGUE DMS is and if you have smoged with it.
Thanks.
Not sure about the noise issue, but any cat back exhaust should be fine emissions wise. The muffler does not alter the content of the exhaust flow in any way. If you want to check your current exhaust's dB though, there's a guy with an E46 M3 who shows up to the bi-weekly valco meets with a sound meter thing. Most of the time your exhaust will be fine but the cops don't bother actually testing the noise level :mad
TheGreatApaum 09-04-2006, 09:01 PM thanks Rob, I will check with the guy who has the sound meter.
WTFCIRCUS 09-04-2006, 09:24 PM Its the guy with the Black E46 M with BBS.
If only they put Harleys up to the same loudness standards
and Mexican-registered vehicles up to smog standards
something might possibly make sense.

TheGreatApaum 10-06-2006, 02:47 AM Old, old thread I know, but I thought I update with info.
So i got my ROGUE DMS exhaust tested by a ref, and it is officialy a legal exhaust in California.
Decibal level was at 92, had 4 points to spare.
The max decibil level allowed in California is 96.5
Just thought I share the wealth of information, in case you were thinking of getting the exhaust, or are going to get it tested.
WTFCIRCUS 10-06-2006, 02:58 AM Nice!
TheGreatApaum 10-06-2006, 03:06 AM I want it louder though.

The Rogue itself is a legal exhaust, or are you talking legal because of the decibel level?

Legal in regards to the Decibel level.
I want it louder though.

clex2 10-07-2006, 02:29 AM Not only did I have to take my car to a referee station to smog, I had to have my car inspected by the CHP and guess what..........I passed everything with all the stuff you see in my sig. I was sure the CHP officer inspecting my car was going to get me for the RE DMS or my front tint. He was cool.

Thanks. My car is going on 3 years since I took ownership form Ben Liaw of Rogue Engineering. I bought it with about half the stuff done, like engine, tranny, suspension, and I've been mostly working on the small, rare, unique stuff (electronics, body, cams, etc). There's not much more I want to do at this point, maybe power lumbar support, but we'll see. It's been a garage queen for that time, so I'm thinking it's about time to start some DE's and auto-x like I was doing with my old 911 a while back. However, the one time I took this thing to Limerock, it was definitely quick, but not as fun as the 911, which felt like it was on the edge the whole time. Very fun.
SLEEK.STATIK 10-07-2006, 09:20 PM i think i want your exhaust dude. did you put the airbox back in?

No......let's just say to the eyes of the general public, including smog referees and the CHP, ECIS looks just like Conforti.....:buttrock
