View Full Version : Houston chapter DE and Club Race Oct 14-15 gobuffs 09-04-2006, 10:12 AM Sign up at DLBRacing.com hinzm3 09-04-2006, 10:18 AM is it free gobuffs 09-04-2006, 10:25 AM Yes if you registered by 9am Sept 1. For the rest it is $250...garage is an extra $40. Greg S 09-04-2006, 03:54 PM Is MSR Houston worth it? gobuffs 09-04-2006, 04:43 PM It is not the most exciting track at first glance but it is fun. I try to support the BMW club events that get put on...if we don't they might not happen again. You notice this event was moved from TWS due to high cost/low turnout last year. maranelloman 09-04-2006, 07:40 PM Is MSR Houston worth it? Great question. The first time I drove it, I would have said "no". But having driven it several times since, I would say "yes", if for no other reason than it always improves your skills to learn a new track. This track is essentially 4 straightaways connected by an autocross course. I think it was designed by a brake pad vendor, for Viper & Corvette guys. That said, the technical portions are very technical....there are a couple of ways through a bunch of the corners, and trying them is a lot of fun...it is generally a very safe track, and very VERY grippy....and the straightaways make it fun to really air the car out & then practice your braking techniques at their ends. Plus, our little BMWs tend to do really well there, and it takes an really well-driven high HP car to put any distance on us. For me, door to door, it is nearly the same distance to MSR Houston as it is to MSR Cresson (within 4 miles of each other). For you, obviously, it would be a much longer drive. EDIT: I will be co-CDI for this event, by the way, so I will get to, once again, pimp some great drives. ;) UDM Motorsport 09-04-2006, 10:54 PM i'll be there...(assuming i still have my car by then) else i'll be a spectator. Being 20miles away rocks!!! Greg S 09-04-2006, 11:22 PM EDIT: I will be co-CDI for this event, by the way, so I will get to, once again, pimp some great drives. ;) Is that a hint? You can't handle the beastly 330  SG_M3 09-04-2006, 11:57 PM i'll be there...(assuming i still have my car by then) else i'll be a spectator. Being 20miles away rocks!!! it never sold? I should be racing, if not i'll be there to instruct. UDM Motorsport 09-05-2006, 01:21 AM it never sold? I should be racing, if not i'll be there to instruct. nope didnt sell...had a few interested individuals, but i had to leave the country then. So i might keep it till after the DE then sell it...hehe (still have lots of brake pads and RA1s to use up) not sure what's planned at the event for saturday evening....else we can all plan to hit Lupe Tortilla for some good fajita and cold brew... maranelloman 09-05-2006, 09:28 AM Is that a hint? You can't handle the beastly 330  Nah. I'll have an ezup maranelloman 09-06-2006, 07:43 PM garage = car port...like TWS only no power and no tables for your stuff (at least that is what it was like last Dec- they have added a lot of stuff since then from what I have heard). No, they have garages now, too. gobuffs 09-06-2006, 08:09 PM No, they have garages now, too. I bet they do but I am sure the ones for "rent" for the weekend are the carports. no? maranelloman 09-06-2006, 09:44 PM Not sure. Last time I was there, they were building a bunch of what looked like open 1 car garages just south of hot pits parallel to the exit of the last corner.
