Must be a trick to it cause even my 745i E65 has the feature so its current

I'm not sure if the e38s with Navigation regained the "weatherband" radio channel (like the e65 did)...but in the mid to late 90s...BMWs that got radios with PTY/RDS lost the weatherband feature. The non-NAV e38s lost the weatherband starting with the 1999 model year

If you have your navigation owners manual...you might want to take a read thru it to see if the weatherband feature is available. If you don't have the manual...there's probably one on www.e38.org (all the downloadable manuals are at the bottom of the left column).

My e30 has it, my e38 does not.
