View Full Version : Put aftermarket deck in my 95 740il and.... Negrodamus 09-02-2006, 05:55 PM Okay i installed a aftermarket deck in my 95 740iL and I get no sound when I put the CD player function on. I get sound when the tuner is on for the radio I can turn the volume up and down. But when I put the CD player function on to play a CD no sound at all? I need some help everything is wired correctly and I tried this with 2 diffrent decks that both work fine any help would be appreicated. I dont have an aftermarket amp in the car it has the oem one. its just wierd that I can get sound thru the radio to work but no Sound from the cd player 95 530i PIMP 09-04-2006, 01:28 AM Haha i know exactly what your problem is You should have a blue wire and a blue w/ white stripe wire coming out of your headunit. One is for the power antennae, one is the 'remote amp' wire. See- you have the wires switched. When you turn on your radio the power antenna gets a 12v signal- since you have em switched this voltage is going to your amp, therefor making everything work properly. When you switch to cd, however, the power antenna wire voltage goes away and your amp is powerless. Switch the wires and you'll be good to go Negrodamus 09-04-2006, 01:40 AM So I hook up my blue wire from the aftermarket harness to the blue and white wire ( P. Cont) that is used to turn on a aftermarket amp right? Okay i will try this, Ive never had to do this when i hooked up decks to a car I just follow the color combinations from the aftermarket harness and then the colors from the harness from the deck im installing. Is this a bmw thing I guess?
