View Full Version : More L.E.D tailliights!
I guess the styling is getting better. If only these would have those contour lines running along the side the lens, then they would actually look pretty good. What you all think?

Strahan 09-01-2006, 02:49 PM Errr... I haven't been behind my car with the brakes on lately, but IIRC aren't the brake lights on the bottom and the running lights in the middle? If my memory is correct & that is the case, those LED brake lights are kinda missing the point, hehe :)

I know the wiring behind the harness changes the way the taillamp lights up.
MeanMachine 09-02-2006, 03:49 AM they look cluttered to me. I would consider if they made them look sleeker and more oem looking.

My thoughts as well... maybe if the middle section didn't have the lights in a honeycomb pattern...
greene08 09-02-2006, 01:48 PM I think the honeycomb pattern is essential. That is how nearly all BMW led tail lights are setup in the crystal clear form (except the new 7, which is not euro clear).
Does the back have any type of weather stripping?

Yes your right but I think it depends on the factory l.e.d setup. I mean I've seen various setups that only use the "l.e.d's" on the taillights as parking lights. Not the best example but just take the E65's taillight setup and you can see that they use l.e.d's for just parking lights. But then again thats a two piece taillight assembly and only the longer slimmer piece serves as the constant parking light if I'm not mistaken.
///M3Vader4dr 09-02-2006, 06:10 PM WTF, why can't a company produce OE look'n tailights?
Bukwild 09-02-2006, 06:14 PM way to honda civic bought at pepboys looking for me. Ebay has better crystal tails with smoked tops like I have or clear tops. These are the best looking upgrade you can get for these cars. In the sun light some times I think I have my lights on they shine so bright.

Even my OEM 745i tails have a sorta honeycomb pattern. Btw those look good to me.

Weird. The prime benefit of LED, asides from the longetivity, is the near instant response time between hitting the brake pedal and the lights coming on. If they are parking lights, kind of a waste. I wonder why they didn't just make the whole thing LED. -shrug-
jmiseo2008 09-02-2006, 10:28 PM I would like to see a picture of these installed in someones car....

Ditto. I'm almost tempted to buy them but two things stop me.. the fact that the lower portion isn't ribbed so I'll end up with the same problem I have now - very visible bulbs and the other reason is I'm looking to buy new wheels/tires next week so I probably shouldn't blow the cash :)
Bread 09-03-2006, 03:22 PM Often times a LED replacement lamp will trigger the dash to show a light out. LED's don't have as much resistance as a filament type bulb. These could potentially trigger that issue unless you wire in a resistor.

Yup you will most likely need a resistor with these lights so that you don't piss off the OBC.
