I was planning on getting the windows tinted all around except for the front window today, but i read somewhere in the manual nothing should be on the inside windows as it messes with the window treatment or something like that?
Is there any precaution I need to take when getting the windows tinted? Or are these normal windows with nothing to worry about?
Let me know!
I'm planning on leaving soon to take it to the tint shop!

Go back and re-read the owners manual and make sure they are referring to your model (there's no harm in doing so). I re-read the manual a lot...and I'm not recalling anything like that for the 740 (but I could be wrong). I do recall something about the 750iL, which has laminated double paned windows. If that's what you read...you need to verify the info...then note if it applies to your car. If it doesn't...then tint away!! :D
BTW, if you haven't done so already...you can download a copy of the owners manual to your computer...they are in PDF format and can be found at the bottom of the left column at www.e38.org . The PDF manuals are so easy to thumb/search through...since you can do it "electronically"...very, very handy. ;)

I have a 2000 740I and read the same thing in my manual. I think it was for cars that have the protection package. (Bullet proof windows)

Here we go again...
The bullet proof glass on the protection model is very different and very rare.
The double pane, "security" or "break resistant" glass is much more common. You could have it on a 740 but was much more common on the 750.
It is recomended you not tint the double pane windows because of the heat build up could seperate the multi layers of glass and laminate. Which is common with these windows even without being tinted.
If you aren't sure, it's easy to figure out if you have it. By sight alone, it's much thicker than typical window glass. You could also check on the inside side of the glass for a plastic laminate coating. You can feel the edge of it at the edge of the window. Also, it will say "secursiv" on the window.
Point out to the window tint shop what it says in the manual. If they are reputable, they will know that you dont' tint double pane glass. From any car maker. Or they will and not warranty it. Your call.
