My 99 UK 740 (E38) has started some strange behaviour. When the ignition is OFF (car parked), the passenger side parking lights switch themselves on and off randomly!
Has anyone seen this behaviour before, or can recommend a way forward. I've checked connections to the LCM but everything looks OK.

Could be a bad general module. My dealer kept my old one or I would give it to you! They can go haywire and do crazy things with your lights. Since you have the UK model, do you have the left or right parking light setup on the headlight switch?

Hi, Thanks for your thoughts. The car does allow the right or left side parking lights to be switched on via the indicator stalk. If I select the left, then the lights come on as expected with no issues, ie no flashing. If I select the right then the right ones come on and it seems that the left ones don't flash. I say 'seems' because the behaviour is intermittent, and to fully check means watching the lights for hours. I was thinking that perhaps a fluctuating battery voltage may be upsetting the IBUS. Any thoughts?

Just for the record.
Connected a large capacitor across the battery...problem solved!
