View Full Version : What is reality of getting a track to do HPDE's back?

I understand that the current track BMW used for HPDE's was closed. What is the realistic point of view in obtaining another/same track for future use?

How many HPDE events are held at the track when it was opened? What organizations?

Would it be worth bringing a car like this, hypothetically-speaking if I was to move there, to do HPDE's with? I guess I could always drive around ... I'm sure it would pass HI inspection -- "no sir, no modifications at all." :stickoutt The car is 'technically' street-legal. It has high-flow cats ... Might be a bit loud though ...

The autocross scene is appealing; but, I would be the only car in my class -- and, sort of an expensive car to bring just to do autocrosses with. Is autocross dying as well on the islands?

Thanks!

Don't know what the status on a new track is, but it doesn't look like we'll get one anytime soon....

As far as Solo II goes, Sunday we are running the second of three trial events at Aloha Stadium... the first one went well, but the course was a little short, 30-40 seconds versus our usual 50-60 seconds...we have about 120 competitors, and run most of the popular classes, including STU and SM...we're hoping the Stadium Authority will let us continue...

Sweet car, but not worth it to ship here.

Well, considering it is not selling here on the mainland, it's a really expensive paperweight anyways. :(

Is there a regional forum for hawai'i that racers/HPDE users frequent that I could participate in and monitor progress? I am not as interested in 1320' runs; but, more interested in road course and rally type of discussions.

Are there no alternatives on other islands for a racetrack?

Is SCCA not interested in doing time trials or time attacks? Perhaps nowhere to do that.

There is nowhere to do that in the islands anymore. However, some guys on Maui have some tricked out cars.

mauiscca.org, or try forumshawaii.net as they have a SCCA forum.

In which SCCA class would your car be?

The number of our participants is small enough that beyond the typical competion within any given class, many of us are looking for FTD, regardless of the classification of the car.

So.... you could always ship that thing to Maui! :D -Scott

I believe I run in EM for SCCA. Well, I'm actually toying with the idea of trying to convert it for street use. I'll have to cut off the front portion of the cage -- not sure about seats -- maybe try to trade seats with someone; but, dont think I can since the seat brackets were welded in for strength.

I am not asking much for it here -- but, don't want to give it away either. Brand new clutch/flywheel (LTW rogue setup), completely rebuilt engine, new cooling system, etc. It's basically a brand new car component-wise. Not sure how the decals would be removed without splotching -- I could drive around like that -- I'm sure it would not attract attention :embarrasm

Ship it to Maui. You wouldn't believe the cars those guys have licensed to drive on the street.
