Blaupunkt 6.5" in rear deck?
The place I am buying a sub from is having a special and including 2 free 6.5" Blaupunkt 2-way speakers when you spend over $500. My question is will these fit in the rear deck in place of the stock shitty 4 inch speakers? If they arent drop in, is it a lot of work/money for me to have them installed? Would I need another amp to power them, or will the stock amp and the amp in the head unit (50x4) be enough? Thanks.

1st thing - spend your money on a CLEAN amplifier versus speaker quality. A quality 30 watt RMS amplifier will outplay a 60 watt RMS crappy amplifier. That said, your stock amp and head unit is inefficient.

To get the 6.5 inch -- you will need to do cutting and welding to put them in there. More trouble than they are really worth. Especially since they are two way -- you don't really need the bass. I would have them give you the price of the speakers and let you apply them to the purchase of a good set of front component 3-ways, or alternatively, to the price of installation, wire ... get a capacitor instead...etc..etc..

If you are spending $500 for "one sub" --or hell, even two, why not purchase the stealthboxes instead....you save your trunk space...and I think you'd be surprised at their sound quality. They bump good....

Thanks for the advice. The sub Im getting most likely is the Digital Designs 9512. Right now I am just getting the sub, JBL 1200.1 amp and a deck. Later on i plan on upgrading the rest of the speakers and getting a small amp because I have a feeling the bass will be crazy.

The sub is only 439, so I was planning on buying wiring or a cap to fill the extra 60 bucks so I could get these free speakers. I will ask if they can give me regular 4 inchers instead or else I just will get the sub and forget about the speakers for now. I definitely dont want to cut and weld so forget the 6.5 inch. What are some good cheap 4 inch speakers that I should ask for instead of the blaupunkt? How much is a 30 watt rms amp like you said to power the interior? Which do you suggest? Will it be necessary to upgrade the speakers in the front doors as well, or just the rear 4 inch ones? Thanks.

That amplifier is WAY powerful for just one sub I would think (don't know anything about your sub). But, if I'm not mistaken it puts out at LEAST 800 watts RMS into one sub. I believe around 350-400 watts RMS into two subs.

Anyways, you would need to upgrade the front speakers at least. I would also consider xtreme dynamat for your trunk then (you'll hear rattling of the deck). I believe MB quarts are really good. How much cubic feet do you need for your sub? I would also consider two 10 inch kicker solobarics as well, or one 12 inch one (they can take the power). I would go with a three way system, dynaaudio I've heard good things about, MB quart are good as well.

I would also consider boston's, etc. I'm not sure if replacing the rear 4 inch speakers will do that much for you. Maybe??? I think infinity kappa's would be fine, etc. I'm putting 6x9's back there (I purchased the brackets-- and there just waiting to be picked up by me...GOD...I'm lazy - they've been there for a week or so now). The brackets can be purchased for $60.

A good 4 channel amplifier, if you can swing it, a 5 channel amplifier (since you are running only 1 sub). I believe a JL 5-channel or ADS 5-channel would be good. A good 4-channel amplifier would be one with less than .01 thd. Phoenix gold, Kraco (just checking to see if you're reading this...hehe)....etc. Basically, anything that best buy or circuit city DOESN'T sell. I mean, the amps at CC and BB are "okay" -- but go for quality b/c phoenix gold will last a long ass time...

OK cool, so the stock Non-HK rear 4 inch speakers will sound fine with the 50wX4 from the deck? I would eventually upgrade the speakers in the door. Im still confused about an amp for the interior though. Will those 50 watts from the deck be enough for upgraded speakers in the front doors? Or would I need a small amp like the ones you mentioned? If i did need another amp, I would want the cheapest one possible most likely to power the rear 4 inchers and the front speakers. The sub ( DD 9512) will easily handle the power from the 1200.1
