Well BMW wanted to charge me $750 for a new A-arm ($500 being allocated to the part), install and labor, and alignment.

I asked if it came with a hand job and a Russian mail order bride. The Service Representative didn't think it was funny.

So I ordered it from pelicanparts.com for $180, overnight shipped for $210 total. Got the BMW dealership here to quote the price being ~2 hours for install at $95 an hour.

Now the question is...do I really need to get alignment done? Literally 3 weeks ago I had the car's alignment setup so I would get extended tire life out of my tires. (more toe-in, less camber) I DO NOT want BMW's specs for my car as my tire life will turn back down to about 5k miles on the rears. Any idea how to handle this situation? Or can I tell BMW to line up my alignment at the given specs I give them?

did you not get a 'warranty' with your alignment? go back and tell them it doesnt feel right ;)

you don't. The upper control arm has no effect on camber or toe. If you are at the same ride height as you were when you aligned it, nothing has changed.

Exactly what I needed to know Sean, appreciate it!
