View Full Version : Back from paint....
virafp 08-26-2006, 08:16 PM Well, 10 days later I have the car back. The color came out great, and it's nice to have a 25 year old car without a door ding!
My son and I put it back together yesterday and today. Only things left are the wipers and sunroof...which I screwed up. Chipped the paint during the re-install....so the sunroof panel is being resprayed on Monday.
We did the bumper tuck with brackets from Ken - wow, do they make your life easy!! I cannot believe what a difference it makes without the diving board bumper. That with the clears that Jason put together give it a great look.
Overall, i am very pleased...Thanks for the help of the board members who answered my questions when I was stuck!

btw, can't remember if i asked this already...but are you also going to have the side-mirrors painted? Or are you going to go for a more OEM look?
virafp 08-27-2006, 01:53 AM I wanted to go more factory in it's look..I like the way yours look. Maybe at a later date when we are ready for a change, I will get them painted to body color.

Get some really good pix up so we can see how the paint looks up close and in good light.

How much did your respray cost? did you have the glass out of the car?

>> not sure yet..have still to get a final bill. The original estimate was 1,800 but I added some stuff. I did not take the glass out - no leaks or seal issues, no rust, so it was better left alone.

Did you do the bodywork? or did you have them do it for you?

Not much to do at all. Two rust spots below the tail lamps and some misc door dings. The body is very straight. Yes, I had them do it.
