Wow...what a truck!

Never mind the fact that the engine makes 650 lb-ft of torque, and can burn rubber in 3 gears.

This thing is QUIET inside. I literally could not hear the diesel, unlike with the Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel.

A/C is the best I have ever experienced (and, in Texas in an August heat wave, thgat is really saying something), and I think the rear seat A/C ducts really helped (unlike the Ford, which does not have them.

I loved it. the only weak link I discovered during the test drive is that the brakes don't feel quite as good as the Ford's, but only by a small degree.

Anyone have one of these with the Allison 6 speed automatic? Whaddaya think?

I drove one, very impressed with power delivery, manumatic shifting (actually works pretty well) and quiet engine. With the new GM platform for `07 the truck should be a very nice all around truck...granted something way overbuilt/large for anything I could use it for.

I've had mine for 3 years now and absolutly like it. It's a great truck and the quality is very good. The powertrain is still quiet and performance is excellent. Service at the dealership is excellent as well. Overall a great truck!

have driven both, and all i can really say is "I understand why the ford has been selling better than the GM"

it just feels like it's built better. The motor feels strong, the tranny feels solid, you know it's a diesel (kind of a fun noise to me, so i don't complain) and it just feels more "rugged"

living in AZ, the GM has actually a tendency for the A/C to lose strength in the 110+ degree heat, while the ford dosen't seem to do that (not as cold in other circumstances, but the gm just didn't STAY that cold after a while)

Great truck, no doubt, as all american trucks are. but still, i'm more of a fan of the ford.

Both trucks really dictate the factor of "preference" since there is no substantial difference in them

GM has always been lacking in the brakes department compared to Ford. But these newer trucks are definately much improved. My family has always purchased GM trucks, and the jump from the pre-2000 3/4 ton brakes to these was a HUGE improvment... My dad drives an 05 CrewCab D-max, and it is absolutely the best truck he has ever owned. Tows the cattle trailer with ease, and does absolutely everything you can ask of it. Overall trucks, you would be hard pressed to choose between the Ford and GM. Ford have always had quite a dreadful interior, but although GM trucks are better on the 2500s, they still aren't that great. We will see in about a year how well GM's next gen 3/4's can compete.
