When BMW built their cars i really doubt they had the idea to be running higher spring rates... but thats just my idea, there is no way BMW would consider covering any of that, nor would g/c even bother. This is just a case where some stuff just needs to be reinforced and its a DIY project :(

my arms are ok with 1,000 lb springs. They worked just fine on the street with 525, 600, and 700 lb springs back there.
The problem is coil bind. The spring was probably coil binding and that means infinate spring rate, something has to give. The aluminum arm did.
