the dsm 20/30 society is putting on a road rally/car show/party sept 23. It starts in dsm somewhere, loops around 250 miles, then returns. I will be signing up with a friend of mine for the rally. I dont know if any of you are TSD freaks like me, but it would be nice to have a few BMWs show up to represent. The organizers list Exotics, classics, tuners, cycles, and SUVs as things that are registered for the event. it starts at 9am, and is $75 for the team. Car show is at 5pm, $25 to show your car. the only contact info I have found is:

Yeah, thats how most TSD rallys work. You are given a set of instructions with directions and average speeds to follow for different segments of the route. the goal is to stay on perfect time, and hit each checkpoint on time. the cars variance from perfect time is how the scoring works.

If you want to be anywhere near on time, or even on course it would be a good idea. Its really not safe to have the driver looking at the pace notes, while looking at the the speedo, while keeping the car on the road.

Bump. Anyone in the area seriously needs to consider coming to des moines for at least part of this event. I spoke with the organizer last night, and from what he says, this thing is going to be huge. They have 7 different car clubs bringing people out for the rally and show. They are going to cap rally entries at 250 cars, due to the timing system they are using. The local chapters of these clubs will have cars there: Porsche club america, BMWCCA, mazda club, mustang club, corvette club, and 2 different street rod/hotrod clubs. They have hired a private security company to watch over the car show, so everything will be safe. They have confirmed entries from a testarossa, diablo, 2 C6 ZO6, few lotus', and others. The rally starts early saturday morning in downtown, and ends at Jimmys american cafe. The show and party start there at 5 and run all night. If any of you do decide to take part in this awesome day, come find me. I wont be too far from my 332i
