DeanP 06-09-2007, 09:41 PM Johnny's BBQ in Mission just off Johnson Drive on Martway. Had lunch there today with the wife, at her suggestion!!!! Very good. Had lunch there today with the wife, at her suggestion!!!! Very good. We shared a combo platter, it had ribs, brisket, ham and sausage. Been there. It's not my favorite, but its good shit. DeanP 06-10-2007, 10:12 AM I was pleased with the quality of meat. The ribs where very meaty and tender, almost falling off the bone, not dry and chewy, like we've had at some places. The sauce was a little zippy without being overpowering. Like you said, not the best, but worth going back for. And the sides were a good quality, nice crisp fries, the baked beans were good and the cole slaw was OK. rcM3 06-15-2007, 01:28 AM Just to report in: Took an outsider to OK-Joes yesterday for some Z-mannage. I told him he has to have gone there a minimum of 17 times before getting anything but the Jumbo-Z. I pulled an advanced move though and got the special: A Z-man w/ chicken instead of beef. I'm here to say it was damn good. The Z-man sandwich has transcended itself from the status of 'sandwich' and has progressed to the esteemed level of 'sandwich-platform'. That is all. You'll have to get your weaksauce elsewhere DeanP 08-15-2007, 10:28 PM Well I would call that some mighty fine BBQ. I really enjoyed that place, I'll be going back for sure. Glad for those that came out, and it was nice meeting someone new. RagnarDanskjold 08-15-2007, 11:12 PM Agreed! I knew Randy would be a no show. And he missed a helluva ride! Dean's new auto is a peach. And Brady and I BOTH had drained batteries. At the same time... Although mine was my own oversight. Keep me posted, Brady, on whether or not it persists. A drain can be a pain to track down, but there's a methodology and I've got a multitester. Seeker 08-16-2007, 01:43 AM Sounds like your batteries have weaksauce in them. I had to replace my battery awhile back.. it'd charge up, then drain down overnite.. it was just getting old and needed replaced.. it was draining itself down.. car doesnt have a short anywhere. And the heat dont help them either. Sorry I missed out.. I had major issues that had to be dealt with.. effin ex fishies, I swear.. you throw the little bitches back in the sea and they keep coming back... like they think you want them back.. shoulda just made fishbait outta that one.. olemiss540 08-16-2007, 08:39 AM Good meeting all of you guys and hopefully I will see you soon. Man those V12's run nicely on the interstate! I'll take some pics from Bimmer Festivus this weekend to show you what you guys are missing! rcM3 08-16-2007, 11:06 AM Great. Now I have a reputation. But I fly to Toronto this afternoon. :) My diff is dead, tho, so perfect time to get out of town. Jim Blanton (www.performancegearing.com) has one on the way for me. When's the next get together any-who? DeanP 08-29-2007, 09:07 AM Hi, yes you missed the Stilwell GTG. We haven't "officially" formed the next meat meet. I would venture to guess the second or third Wednesday in September will be the day at a location to be determined. We are easily swayed, if you have place in mind throw it out. assoutE12 08-29-2007, 12:05 PM Ku's back in session. :devillook charper140 08-29-2007, 12:10 PM Vermont St. BBQ will have wonderful scenery as long as the warm weather holds. :evil2 sparkchaser 08-29-2007, 12:23 PM It makes me happy that you guys are keeping the tradition alive. :buttrock RagnarDanskjold 08-29-2007, 02:13 PM Happy in your pantz? :confused I'm up for meat sometime soon. I may be on two next wed. if I can't find a diff... And for fuck's sake. The second day on the road with the bike and I got tagged by a car on 69 S. going out to the cats because some stupid motherfokker thought the guy waving him over (both cut in front of me as the cones merged into a 1 lane construction zone) was telling him 'there's something wrong with your car.' The guy in a rental PT Cruiser waved the guy over and all of a sudden at 70mph I see both cars that just cut in on me braking hard. I ran to the right of the Cruiser, but not too far since I was hard on the brakes and there was construction debris and dirt on the shoulder which doesn't help stopping). The guy in the pickup comes to a dead stop and the cruiser dives right, right in front of me and I tagged his right front quarter panel at about 10mph, breaking my turn indicator. The early 50ish guy in the digital-ish cammo fatigues comes out as the guy I hit is yelling at him colorfully and says "I didn't know what you were saying, so I thought there was a problem with my truck." I kept asking him why he didn't signal and pull over to the wide shoulder and he just kept saying 'I didn't know what he was saying'. The other guy and I just made sure we were alright while the other guy took off. He kept offering me the little money he had, but for a $19 part; when it wasn't even his fault, I just thanked him for his concern and we took off. But I got my laundry done tonight. Good times. Wed. Maybe I am just an idiot but not sure what to bring. A little tech session would be sweet! RagnarDanskjold 09-01-2007, 05:53 PM We do need to have more tech sessions. I'm getting ready to do some major stuff and I know Brady's got things to do. Rather than squirrel myself away for a weekend, I'll open it up so people can lend a hand or just cheer if they want and let people ask questions and learn along the way. That's the real spirit of the tech fest. assoutE12 09-01-2007, 06:48 PM I'd be interested in a tech session also. I have lots of little shit I need to do but never get around to. I'm going to Wa tonight to check if they cook anything. I seem to recall someone getting a non Sushi item at the first Wa meet, but I'm not sure. RagnarDanskjold 09-06-2007, 02:30 PM I love Saddlers, but given the ratio of my disadvantage with power/weight, it's all about the fun. Finally found a rear diff from Diffs Online. About a grand shipped for a 3.38ls from a 99M3 with only 68k/mi. Can't wait to get back in the M and see how it feels with a good diff again. Fortunately, the rain has been mild while I've been on the bike. Different people, different crouds, wayy different atmosphere. Us BF.c'ers just get together to have a good time, shoot the shit, and eat good food. The CCA stuff is serious bidness, and not quite as much fun. I am a CCA board member and attend all the meetings though. Rockstardj 09-08-2007, 12:16 PM i know you didn't mean it in a negative way, I just got all confused with the dates and the two groups, it's all good kesslerbmw 09-08-2007, 06:52 PM Good, after seeing Ted's post I saw yours and kinda felt bad. Seeker 09-08-2007, 07:36 PM man.. sounds like lotsa peeps havin car problems. I've got either a major air leak or crappy injectors. Seems like I have to work on something besides what I want to work on.. like entire rear suspension rebuild, wheel bearings and eventually paint AM body parts and install. Then By the time i found it, it was 6:50 so no one was still there so i got on K-10 and drove the rest of the way out. Finally found the place after asking about 3 people, went in and dont know what any of you guys look like so i just start asking tables if they are there for the BMW meet. No luck so i left and drove back home. Wasted over 2 hours of my night lol. How about we do somewhere closer to KC next time for us Missouri guys? Sorry you had problems. If you would have asked earlier in the day any of us would have given you a cell phone number as a contact. We meet at a different place everytime, so it possible we might select a Missouri location next time. We have eaten in Missouri several times. There are a couple of Lawrence guys that trek out to KC many times and we like to return the favor occassionally by going to Lawrence, plus the co-eds. Fastanic ribs again at Vermont Street!!!! Theodore 09-13-2007, 10:49 AM I hope BBQ went well. I had a great night! Instead of joining you, my dogs decided to visit with a skunk behind our house, and I spent the evening trying (without success) to remove the wonderful odor he imparted on their fur. They got left outside overnight, and they'll be re-bathed this morning. Ugh. Any tips on removing skunk stink? I've always heard tomato juice/sauce, but I don't know how much truth there is to that or if its just an old wives tale... Have fun with that! My dog decided he'd rub his neck in shit... For that... he gets a bath... which he hates. Rockstardj 09-13-2007, 11:53 AM +1 on closer place next time :alright RagnarDanskjold 09-13-2007, 12:24 PM We do try to accommodate as many as possible, but these are not NASA operations with full contingency plans. Logan has been a real trooper schlepping into town MANY times for our BBQ GTG's, and as Dean said, we appreciate and value that and like returning the favor (and enjoying good BBQ, co-eds and trying to pace Dean at impound speeds) That being said, I'm nominating StoneWall BBW (and pizza) for a patio dining experience now that the weather has cooled of a bit. It's near 95th and Pflumm, so it should be a happy medium for all travelers. But this IS a CAR enthusiasts group, so why not enjoy the drive! :) kesslerbmw 09-13-2007, 12:33 PM We do try to accommodate as many as possible, but these are not NASA operations with full contingency plans. Logan is a real trooper.. He even made it out to Blue Springs at like 6.30. Thats at least an hour, probably hour and 15 minute drive just to get some BBQ with us. I killed a foglight and a PS2 today on my way to lunch. Hit a semi tread on 435 close to Antioch. So... I am trying to track down Jim from the TireRack to order a new one. In the mean time, I NEED a favor. I went to put my spare on... forgetting about my Wilwood brakes up front. I need a spacer. 5 or 10mm would be great, I just need it for a few days until my new PS2 gets here from tirerack. If its a 10mm, the longer lugbolts would be appreciated as well! I already have a 5mm on there, so I don't think I need much more to clear my factory Contour. Kudo's to Jim by the way for his fast turn around on my message. My tire is shipping today! ETA... nevermind! Brian Paddock is helpin me out. Borrowed a 12mm spacer and it works perfectly. Now to get things back to they way they should be...
