Hey Guys,

Just wondering if some of you blokes with right hand drive 323i's can send me some pics of your engine bays? Particular attention to the shitty brake booster setup. I'd love some details along firewall, along each side, and also a couple of all over shots.

Reason is, I bought my car without an engine in it, so I am missing that frame of reference how everything goes together again.

Thanks,

Al

Rod with joint comes out of the firewall from the pedal, bracket attaches to it at the top, then the rod attaches to the bottom of it to form the first part of the linkage. Right across the top is a solid brace which is bolted to the firewall (with the clutch slave bolted there too), on the other end of the brace, the master cylinder and booster are bolted to it. Beneath the brace runs the rod that forms the linkage, then it connects to a bracket in front of the booster, then the bracket connects to a joint at the front of the booster, which then runs into the back of the booster (just like it would if it was attached to the pedal). Its just a remote setup thats all, think of an existing brake linkage, but mirror it, place one at each end, then run a rod between the two in order to connect them up.

Should be a diagram of the linkage setup in the parts catalog. If you want better pics than those ill have to go and take them.

Those are great shots, thanks. If you can post some more general engine bay shots as well, that would be swell.

I have the parts diagram already, as I've ordered every part on it! Yup, every nut, bolt, and pin is going to be brand new. I even have a brand new linkage rod for it.

its BMW, what did you expect.
the Pre 78 320 and post 78 320 have stupidly different brake setups.
personally i like the pre 78 ;)

my 1976 320 is for sale atm - only has a cracked head, and no carby, oh and its auto. :( has a BBS front bar tho :)
