I had a 3.38 lsd that I needed installed on my car. I was quoted 6hrs labor by a performance shop (and they said they've done those installs before too). I figure, there has to be somebody else out there that would be able to tackle the job. Well, I swung by my local Gibraltar Transmission shop and I asked if they could do the job, they said no problem, quoted me 2-3 hrs.

Since my chassis is a 1993 325, they had to swap the flanges from the old diff. All said and done, he charged me $200 for the diff install. Car drives with no problems what-so-ever.

I think this was an excellent job done at a reasonable price, by an experienced mechanic, backed by a trusted company name/brand.

For the locals, the shop I went to was 79-21 Queens Blvd in Elmhurst.

He gave me a rough estimate quote of around $300 for a clutch & flywheel install as well. I haven't shopped around, but I think that'd be a good deal as well, no?

300 for just the labor or with parts? If it's labor+parts, that's an awesome deal!

No actually, that's just labor. Clutch & flywheel I would purchase separately.

Let me know if there's a better deal elsewhere.

300 is a pretty decent price... about average if not a tad bit cheaper. but if you're mechanically inclined, do it yourself! :D

what shop is this?!?!?! This is right by my house and all the shops I know around here are shit unless you know the owners personally.

I do all my own with my bud anyway because I'm poor and relatively cheap.

SCRATCH THAT - Anyone in Queens or the Tristate Area looking for someone to do work PM me.
