View Full Version : Polished 15" BBS RAs
seventhstoned 08-23-2006, 02:48 AM I have a set of polished BBS RAs that I plan to sell. They are in excellent condition, no curb rash or bends. The centers are silver and the lips have been polished.
I'm visiting from the E30 side and I was told that these rims (15 X 7 ET13) will also fit the E21 (possibly better than the E30) Since I dont have enough posts, I cannot upload pictures....If anyone is willing to help I can send pictures through email.
I have no idea what they are worth and I was hoping to get some input from the E21 crowd.
Rickysbmw320i 08-23-2006, 03:23 AM ill post them for you, my email is rickysgarage@msn.com

typhoon320i 08-24-2006, 08:05 AM I second that.
Your price?
seventhstoned 08-24-2006, 08:57 AM I've recently seen an unpolished set sell for $600 on ebay. I'm thinking about listing them at $1 that way the buyers can determine the price.
phatchink 08-24-2006, 10:55 AM nice rims good luck!
TheNeek 08-24-2006, 12:52 PM have fun with dead beat bidders on ebay. Sell them to a community member. I know I didn't get into the BMW game to score extra money, why did you get into BMW's?

I had sent you an e mail yesterday expressing interest in the wheels. If you decide on an asking price here, e mail me at viraf@cox.net.
I would rather work it out with you, pay with paypal and do it here. However if you do decide to list the wheels, let me know.
Thanks

waferman 08-24-2006, 01:17 PM There was a new set on Ebay late last year, and someone from this forum picked those up a day or two b4 I had the cash- I went with E30 basketweaves. Nice rims- they are a find for sure! Who ever buys them, dont paint them black!:(

TheNeek 08-24-2006, 01:20 PM I hate the internet sometimes. The times of walking up to a person with a diamond in the rough and stealing it from them for pennies on the dollar of what it's worth are over. The un-informed public is too informed by internet folks. I know damn well if this "stoner, or stoned" guy had met any of us E21 members at a garage sale where he was trying to sell these wheels, we would have walked away with a great deal. Now he's playing all of us against eachother to line his own pockets. Nothing wrong with that, I just know that the person that ends up with them will have a bad taste in their mouths. I know a few people that already do.

I posted the rims here to get an idea of a fair asking price and to see how much interest there is. (maybe to go from un-informed to informed) I do not want my "diamond" to be stolen for pennies. I have spent approx. 10 hours on each rim hand polishing them.

I am a BMW nut like most others here (E30M3 mostly), I have never had to ask myself why I got into BMWs. If they are listed on Ebay, I'm pretty sure I will find a bidder who is serious.
Once again, If I was able to watch other sets of RAs sell, I would at least have an idea of what to ask. The only other set I have seen has sold for $600Mine are polished and in far better condition than the set that sold.
Here is my asking price $800 plus shipping from NY (09112)
blitzed310 08-24-2006, 02:50 PM Still waiting for the email reply with shipping to 92880. 1k is entering RS territory.
Im not bashing, but did it really take you 40 hours to polish the lips? Im a polishing fanatic.
TheNeek 08-24-2006, 03:09 PM Trust me man... I don't hate you... I'm not singling you out. But let's take a trip down memory lane:
Ebay link to VERY nice looking RA's... Didn't sell.. wrong bolt pattern, but still (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-911-928-944-924-968-VW-BBS-Mahle-RA-15-Wheels_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43956QQihZ001QQi temZ110021240775QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)
Ok, so these are 14" wheels... but they look VERY NICE... didn't sell, even with FREE shipping (http://cgi.ebay.com/BBS-RA-Polished-Lip-black-centres-14x6-ET-33_W0QQitemZ200019309693QQihZ010QQcategoryZ9889QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
I would rock those 14x6's those are sweet!
seventhstoned 08-24-2006, 03:10 PM The ten hours is a fair estimate, I did them over several weeks....it covers stripping, sanding and polishing the lips, then sanding the centers and repainting.
Shipping to 92880 will cost approx. $100 for parcel post or $140 for priority.
If $800 is too high, we can always go with my fist plan.
seventhstoned 08-24-2006, 03:18 PM If people are listing them for $699 and they don't sell, then my $1 auction without reserve should look sweet!
TheNeek 08-24-2006, 03:30 PM If people are listing them for $699 and they don't sell, then my $1 auction without reserve should look sweet!
I'll bid a dollar.
holdfastgreg 08-24-2006, 04:16 PM $800 for those rims?
Riiiiiight.
Just to inform you, anyone with $800 for rims can go buy weld racing wheels or anyother top notch rim and come out ahead of your asking price. I can score DOT approved rims that at 15x7-15x15 for half that price. There powdercoated black with a red lip and are stunning. Simply enough, who care s if you have 10 hours worth of work in them. I dont buy a rim because they have polished lips i buy them to perform a task....and I can get that task done at a cheaper price. Take care.
P.S this isnt a flame, its just an observation.
seventhstoned 08-24-2006, 04:30 PM sold! for a dollar to guy who posted above.:rolleyes
Ebay$1, link soon

Um, I totally agree Greg.
I have seen some of BBS RMs amd RSs selling for the 1k mark
on the vortex all the time.
Both my 18 inch SSR GT IIIs for my 03 VW and my gold BBS RA rims, where acquired for a "steal."
My SSRs had one bent that they said could never be fixed. I had it straightened.
I know did you work on these, my compliments.. but i will take my money else where.
Its not a good valve to me.
holdfastgreg 08-24-2006, 07:43 PM ......someones not bending me over a chair today.
jays323i 08-24-2006, 11:25 PM I sold a staggered set 2(15x6) and 2(15x7) with 2 new tires and 2 80% tires for about $1050 shipped. These where totally refinished in silver (no polished lip). So minus tires and shipping and they where probably about $650 for the rims. I listed them on ebay and ended up selling them before the auction ended. Nothing wrong with letting the market set the price! I say Ebay them and sit back and enjoy.
seventhstoned 09-16-2006, 11:32 AM Its been a few weeks but they are finally listed.
They started at $1 and there is no reserve. I can't post a link but here is the auction number.
170028913026
Whatever they sell for is cool. Like I stated in the beginning of the thread, I didn't know what they are worth. When people wanted a price I went for best case scenario (for me that is).
Thank you!
slowe21 09-17-2006, 05:54 AM Here's the link for the lazy :) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CLASSIC-BBS-RA-Rims-BMW-E21-E30-VW-4-X-100_W0QQitemZ170028913026QQihZ007QQcategoryZ43955Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
imaradiostar 09-17-2006, 03:19 PM Damn...They're nice!
I have a set of 15x7 ET13 but no center caps. I payed $500. Mine don't look as nice as the ones in the original post. I'd say the silver ones you have for sale are worth at least $800 to someone that needs original wheels for a period-correct restoration project.
I don't mean to hijack the thread but does anyone have any caps they'd wanna sell?
jamie
Space323i 09-20-2006, 07:35 AM Do you have these wheels on ebay now?
Price on these...? That's tricky...Flawless can catch four figures on ebay with good bidding.
No activity and flawless - 6 to 7 hundred....It's timeing.
seventhstoned 09-24-2006, 01:45 PM Thanks for posting the link slowe21
