I have an e36 328is. This morning I open the passenger side door, but when I try to close it, it doesn't work and slams. Upon inspection, the power window passenger side doesn't work.
Apparently some electronics failed in the door relating to the window and, surprise, it didn't come down the 1/2 inch when you open the door (you know the little reseal feature) and when I tried to close the door, the extended glass put a huge hole in the trim on top of the window (since it was still in the door-closed seal mode). :mad :mad :mad
How do I manually roll down the window so I am able to close the door (like in the e30, there is a manual panel to do it)?
What is this likely to be?
How much is this trim to replace? Pictures later.
Thanks, all.

well you can't without getting to the wiring, assuming the window motor is still good. What you can do though is close the window by closing the door by pushing at the rear top of the window, that will force it into the "track" thats what I had to do when the windows stopped working on my iC (blown fuse)

Ugh... yea I tried increasing pressure on the back of the window and it wouldn't budge (neither would the driver's one for comparison).
Do you have an idea what fuse controls the front passenger side door so I could give it a look (don't have my Bentley yet)?
Well I read a little, I can report that I hear it clicking (relay) when I push the switch. I guess that eliminates the switch and fuse as the problem? I have to take apart the inner door panel then?
An update: when using the switch, the clicking sound is coming from the door itself. When you disconnect the motor, a faint clicking sound can be heard from the engine bay (relay). So the motor is trying and hitting an obstruction and stopping?
The window is extended too far out. So far so that it has ripped a bit of the rubber triangular boot at the passenger side mirror and hits the outer trim when closing (unable to close).
I'm guessing that the window is out of allignment or and coming off the rains and is jammed. It is PAST the top position, I have no access to the bottom attachment of the window to the rails. Pushing hard down makes a bit of movement, and you can kind of see the regulator flexing, but it doesn't move.
How do I disconnect the motor from the window? The motor ITSELF is attached to a little plastic gearbox by 4 torx screws. It probably isn't possible to remove either without removing the regulator, which is RIVETED ON. Is there way to disconnect the motor from the driveline of the window without drilling out the regulator? I probably only need to defeat the motor for a moment so I can lower the window -- the motor probably still works.
Pictures (low light, flash at macro doesn't work well):
This is the passenger side with the window sticking way out and has ripped the rubber boot a little (not visible) and destroyed the outer trim when it hit:

This is the driver side window for comparison (normal) (view from inside, driver's seat):

:help
Come on now you guys, I can't close the door. :(
Any idea on how to get it back in position to be to at least close it? (Without drilling out the regulator).

Sorry I really don't know :(
That's ok. I just dove into it and drilled off two of the rivets and was able to flex the regulator and pull the motor magnet cover off . I got the thing to sputter and reverse a little bit. Flipping the cover, it only goes up. So clearly the problem is with the motor.
Is there a cheap source for this motor?
