cpcalkins 08-18-2006, 09:57 AM I really dont want to sell but if I can get what I want it will be sold... It is a 1998 M3 Sedan with 120k miles. Hey, why dont you keep your smart ass comments to yourself... If i were to sell this bone stock, it would go for around 14k plus over 16k in aftermarket parts alone... Most of these parts have less than 10k miles on them. The clutch and flywheel have 1k miles on them, the bbk has 500 miles, the cooling system has 2500k miles, the suspension has 5k miles.
If anyone disapproves of my price, keep it to YOURSELF. I am a reputable seller on here and have always been upfront and honest about everything.
Oh and btw i was offered 20.5k for this car so my price isnt that off...

I was just a little agrivated because i felt like i was on the Honda forums again... I also thought that it was against the forum rules to comment on threads just to disapprove... I have thought long and hard about the price and with everything done, I honestly feel this is a fair price. I can remove the BBK and take 2k off the price and 19k sounds like a better price for the car, but most m3's after about 100k need the calipers rebuilt and new rotors anyway so why should i bother.
I will apologize for the earlier comment but after further consideration, I do think this is a fair price. I look at it this way. It sells or it doesnt. I am in no situation where I need to sell the car, but if the opportunity came I would sell it.
madsedan 08-18-2006, 12:59 PM Too rich for my blood but nice car nonetheless. I am seriously shoppnig for another M3/4 right now but will not spend more than $20k on one. If, after a week or so, you can't get what you want than drop me a PM and if I haven't bought another one I may take this one.
I'll end up spending $15k on one and then spending another $4-5k to do all this stuff anyway.
cpcalkins 08-18-2006, 01:02 PM thats cool... depending on interest... I know its alittle more than people want to spend so im sure it wont move fast... Its the people that plan on doing these things to the car that will be interested...
cozmo kraemer 08-18-2006, 04:23 PM Does the car still have the clutch type fan off of the engine, or did the SPAL fan replace it? Is it propperly shrouded? I live in Phoenix, and proper cooling is very important.
You list the condition inside and out as an 8 out of 10. It is confusing to me because you are demanding a premium price, price warranting a 10 condition inside and out, especially with the mileage. Perhaps some explanation of what makes the condition an 8. The outside looks nice...above an 8...but there is only one photo and no explanation.
In my opinion the mods you have listed don't add a flat $5K to the price of the car. Some them are just upgraded maintanence items.
What I am trying to say is, just sell the car to the price, it is all about making us believe that the car is worth $23K and the ad as listed hasn't been doing the trick. More photos and a detailed description of the condition would be a good start!
cpcalkins 08-18-2006, 04:57 PM the paint on the car is very clean but i cant give a car that is 8 years old more than an 8. It has the typical paint chips on the hood and front bumper and a couple spots here and there. Its excelent for being 8 years old but i dont believe i would rate it higher than an 8, im way too picky.
as for the interior, i will also rate it an 8 for the same reason. the only wear on the leather is the drivers side bolster and ive seen alot worse. The carpet is in good condition and has new black M floormats.
I dont get where you add all the mods to 5k... The UUC Stage3 BBK i just put on was 2650 by itself, the GC street/track kit was 1500, the Eurosport Cam kit/UD Pulleys were 3500, and the wheels are worth 1800. Right there is just short of 10k. Those are just the high dollar #'s. What i did was take all i spent on mods and cut it in half.
All the work done on the car minus the things I could to was done by a BMW Master Mechanic. I know 23k is a high number but ideally that would be nice. I had an offer for 20.5k from a guy who has seen the car. The absolute lowest i will sell this car for is 20k.
Other items addressed in the car...
PS Leak Fixed
Sticky 5th Gear Fixed
Climate Control Fixed
Shifter output shaft seal fixed
AC Compressor Fixed (PER BMW CPO)
I plan on posting more pics this weekend if i get around to it and get my car cleaned up. And btw im in the southeast where temps are almost as hot as out west and have NEVER had any overheat issues with a fan delete.. Probably due to the fact that im running a 3000 cfm spal fan with strait blade(its way loud but does the job).
cozmo kraemer 08-18-2006, 05:06 PM I dont want to argue with you in your thread. But I am in the market for a car of this type and I have the money to purchase. Your ad just didn't sell the car to me. If you are really picky then we need photos of the exterior and interior to decide for ourselves if it is worth the premium price.
There are many other sedans for sale, some with similar (maybe not quite as extensive) mods to yours, but with less miles, that are asking far less money. I was just trying to help you out. And I am NOT telling you to lower your price. Just you to try to build the value into the price you are asking :)
When I sold my previous M3 I had to part it down...no one wanted to pay the premium for my BBS RG-Rs or the cam kit I had... It is just much easier to move a car that way....and if yours doesn't move for awhile (right buyer could come at anytime, just saying) parting it down a little will give you a better return.
Is the SPAL fan shrouded? There is a big difference between 100 degrees and 110+ degrees that we see here for an entire month. I get into it with RX7 guys all the time when they think their 'perfect' cooling system will hold up down here. They get here, and bam...not so perfect...
cpcalkins 08-18-2006, 05:17 PM I understand and it seems like if you are not interested, you are tryin to help. I plan on getting more pics up by hopefully sunday. I just want to make sure the car is clean before i take the pictures. It has rained here every day so its hard to keep a clean car. The more i think about it, this is going to be a hard sale and would probably be easier if i were to part it out but i really dont have the time for that. The only thing that this car will need is the RTABS replaced and the Guibo replaced (both of which i have the parts for and just waiting on the time to install).
I appreciate all of the constructive critism.
kfogg 08-18-2006, 08:47 PM I am definetly one of the people who think a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it and what you are willing to sell it for. But if you had a 20.5 offer and you want 20 minimum why didn't you sell it?
But the main reason for posting is if you decide to part anything out let me know. I am interested in a number of items.
cpcalkins 08-18-2006, 09:19 PM Sorry, cant part it out but check out new pricing for BFC Members. I will get pics posted by sunday...
