I dont want to call this a kill story, more of a gentleman's race... It was just me and my friend wondering how fast our cars would go. Onto the fun part.

So we roll out onto the highway, and there are no cars around, so we stop our cars. Since I have the slower car disadvantage, I was the one counting down (we all know that 325xi's are slow). Anyways, as soon as I counted to 3, both of us slammed hard on the gas... we were even at the start, but he started pulling away at around 40 mph. And then above that, well thats history. Well, that was our first go at it.

The 2nd time around, we did the same thing, go on the highway, stop, and me counting down. I shifted the better the 2nd time around, switching gears in between 6000-6500 rpm. Surprisingly, I actually kept up with the z4, with only him being around half a car length ahead of me by 60 mph.

Both runs, we were running until around 70-80 mph and then slowing down. Also, we were both on auto trannies with shiftronics. I know, manual cars are faster and would school both of us, but hell with it, this run was plenty fun.

Also, I got some questions.. the first run my shiftronic was being stubborn and wouldn't let me shift. Thats what made me slow.. shifting bettwen 2nd and 3rd. Also, is revving it to the redline destructive to the engine? ..i know, I'm a nub..

...well, it WAS the first time I went full speed like that in my car. Well, I dont care who flames, if anyone does, still was really really fun.. love the bimmers.

Our 04 all-wheelie has a "no-race" rule of engagement on it :shifty . I'm happy to see that 2.5L xi's can actually do OK when pushed :) .
