I was headed north on I65 to see my girlfriend this past weekend, which was about a 2. hr drive. So I’m chillin around 85 or so, with the cruise on to avoid popo. I end up behind a slow car in the left lane with a semi in the right lane.

Slow car creeps forward… while I notice behind me a set of Audi lights. I see a little something in the grill and know its probably a Quattro, but holy crap those are wide fenders! So this guy rides up on me, then drops back a bit. I see he’s got 4 people in the car.

The car ahead of me moves over, and I wanted to get a better look at the Audi cause, you know, it looked nice. I push a little bit in 6<SUP>th</SUP> and get around this slow guy and move into the right lane doing about 85. I expected the Audi to pull up a little bit, since he came up to my bumper pretty fast.

Mr. Audi rips it open and flies by! I think he was doing 120mh as he passed me! As I see him start to move faster (in my mirror), I’ve shifted to shift to 4<SUP>th</SUP> and hammered it. He still pulls away! Still going! I’m like, come on, Ive gotta reel him in a LITTLE! Finally I start closing, but I realize he’s just let off a little. I am now in 5<SUP>th</SUP> gear. Hes gotten like 4 car lengths on me, when he started from behind! :help

I check his badge finally… yep, da RS4. It dawns on me that I saw this Audi walk a M3 CSL on Fifth Gear. Holy Crap! Remember, he had Four Adults in there total. I had stuff in the trunk, but mostly blankets, so it was really just me! I call my friend to tell him about it, and he says that there are only like 20 RS4’s in the states!

I did try to catch him again, because I wanted to line up and run from 70 or so, but you know what? I caught his bumper twice after that, and then with a break in traffic he was gone. I mean, I couldn’t see him at all when he had been there 1 minute before. The chase ended there, because he started pulling fairly aggressive driving moves earlier to get ahead, and there was a lot of traffic. (= :nono )

All in all though, it was fun! I haven’t had that much adrenaline since I test drove the 540i/6. The RS4 is simply :eyecrazy .

CLIFFS: In traffic, Audi RS4 blows by and I try to catch up. Fairly unsuccessfully. Then a bomb exploded and the RS4 was never seen again.

The B7 RS4, assuming thats what you saw, has been in the US for about 4 months now. And there are gonna be alot more than 20 before the run is done.
The B5 RS4, yes, maybe 20. But if it wasn't a station wagon, it wasn't a real B5 RS4.

A 440 hp V8 will do that to a 540 on the highway, even with 4 people in the car.
Nice spot on a rare car. I've yet to see one, other than on a showroom floor.

i assume they would be more likely to spot in Ca. this was on I65 going from Indianapolis towards chicago.. maybe they were late for a meeting or something, i dunno, but i bet the average speed was like 90.

Saw an Imola Yellow one parked in downtown Rochester (for you Detroit locals) last week. Then after I picked up my jaw and stopped drooling, I turned at the light, to see a red F430

they are quite amazing I rode in one, the numbers dont tell the whole story the thing can be in 6th gear going 20 and drive smooth. The car speeds at will and 70 feels like 20mph.

btw, the M3 in Fifth Gear wasn't the CSL. It was only a ZCP. The CSL would be similar to the RS4 in performance since the CSL is heck of lot lighter.

f430 has got to be my favorite car.I'd like to see one in person but those chances arent too big. Love the v8 soundtrack in that machine!

Eh, I'm pretty sure this was an RS4. Freakishly wide tires, wide fenders, and the exhaust sounded amazing. It would have taken some serious work to make a normal A4 look that good.

judging from the noise it made, polished look, and watching it work through traffic while pulling away uber fast from me, im pretty sure it was da real thing.

the rebadging thing bothers me a bit, its one reason i dont want to debadge my car. if i get the m5 front bumper i want, then people might think its an M5.. meh. i dont want to 'trick' people that way i guess.

Except for the fenders and the outcome. A4 fenders will not be confused for RS4 fenders. And an A4 would have gotten spanked.

I think the RS4's in the states are modded to replicate the Avant's. You can buy a K04 TT kit and it's considered an "RS4" because that's what they run. I can't believe the power that the B7 has while still being NA.

Audi plans to build 2000 RS4's over a 2 year run, or more if the demand is present.
IIRC, the 200th VIN for a NA RS4 was just issued.
