I am for the euro smileys and not those angel eye deals. Too many Hondas riding around with those and they do not look right on the E34. Just my .02c

I STILL can't figure out if I like them or not, hahaha. I've seen the smileys on Ebay, but I think I like the Angel (demon?) eyes better.

I live in the sticks and havn't actually seen them in person, they might look super cool to me, who knows?

It's nothing I'd spend any money on anyway, but if I keep the car, it might be something I'd be interested in. Or not.

On the down side, I'd be the only one here in the moutains with one, making it harder to get away with anything at night...

You really don't have to worry about "getting away" with anything. Angel eyes are OE for BMW. Therefore, there are no illegal ramifications for having them on your car. Also if you look at OE european smilies they have city lights that make the inside of the low beams glow. Thats hot. I have them with blue city lights. And as priorly stated, they are OE. No problems with driving with illegal headlights on them either:redspot .

I personally like ANgel eyes and inend to put them on my e34.

You should defintely stay away from the RED demon eyes as those are illegal and if you're in a small town, you will get literally paper-bombed with fix-it tickets. As far as the white and amber ones are concerned, those are 100% street legal and OEM on many modern cars.

Heh, I love seeing pics of my car :) I sure dont mind... but Id question the build quality of the Angel Eyes, also Umnitza never made this lens right, so I ditched them..

http://www.veeshanvault.org/gallery/albums/broken-depos/BrokenDepo003.sized.jpg

They had lamin-x on them from day 1 and this lens fell off after about 6 months.

This is my car today, with Euro Smileys in the mail ;)

I was being a smart ass, as NOBODY has Angel Eyes on anything around my parts. The most you see around here is the occasional neon tag, and some of the ricers (very few of them as well) have the neon or whatever it is that glows undernearth the car... mostly seen under Neons and Caviliers.

Yeah, I like the city lights though. I normally run with my headlights on anyway, makes it easier not to get plugged by a coal truck. Well, wishful thinking...

I vote Euro Smileys. The Angel eyes were NOT OEM on this year 5 series. I also have little faith in $250-300 units when the Hellas are so much more expensive. There is a reason that you pay for quality--because it usually costs more to produce the parts.

Smileys to me kinda look like horseshoes, the Angel Eyes look best to me on a darker car, mine is gold/light brown, whatever BMW calls it.

I found my smileys on ebay.eu... got em for like $140 shipped. Ive seen em on ebay.com but they regularly hit $300'ish in good condition.

Funny how Umnitza replied to the thread but not to my post.

Dumb question, how do these things work? I assume you just wire them into your park lights?

I seen on the Umnitza website to where theirs has a remote? Not quite sure why I would need remote controlled lights, but it may have it's uses.

Sorry, which post? We never got a response from DEPO to replace it. We requested a new headlight from them and were able to finally receive it yesterday.

After seeing a few pics, I'm STILL not sure if I think they're cool or not. My wife thinks they look just wonderful, but unless she wants to buy them for me...

Call me old fashioned, but if the part doesn't:

1. Make the car go faster, improve gas mileage, improve longevity
2. Make it handle better
3. Improve my ability to drive (e.g. brighter headlights)
4. Make my ride more enjoyable (e.g. stereo upgrades)

....then I am not interested.

Therefore you won't find me spending money on:

1. Angel eyes
2. Smoked, clear, or otherwise different tail/turn/side/parking lights
3. Neon lights under the car
4. Other upgrades that are really just cosmetic in nature (they may look cool to some, but I think stock is pretty cool just as it is)

haha, nice one, though i don't think helen keller was retarded, george bush on the other hand...

the angel eyes look way to ricey for me. if yer gonna install them in yer car, you might as well bolt a big metal wing on the trunk and get a "i wish my car was a honda" license plate frame. im all for upgrading the aesthetic appeal of an e34, as long as it's tasteful.

When everyone and their brother is making their own angel eyes for their civic, neon, DSM n/t, etc etc, that's plenty enough reason NOT to have them unles they were OEM.

All true, but his statement was and I'm paraphrasing, was that everything should be OEM on the car.. The stuff on his car though some OEM was NOT stock on his year/model, hence the hypocrisy..:stickoutt

Anyway, who cares as long as he likes it? I, just like most of us, don't admit to having ALL OEM for our model/year/country either..;) That's what makes a vehicle individual to the owner..

BMW guys ain't quite as bad as Mercedes guys fighting over what factory Becker sounds best, and what 14" rims look the best.

I don't really care if I car has been modded or not, they made ALOT of these, it's not like a old 507 or something, hell, even a Isetta.

What I can say is most BMWs out of the box don't really need anything other then maybe a stereo upgrade on the old ones. The basic suspension, wheels/tires, brakes, engines, ect... are already better then most cars. Most have all the options you'll need (cruise, air, sunroof, ect...) and even one 25 years old will have alot of stuff a cheap new car will have, sometimes more.

The only car that I am aware of with black painted factory T-stars was the 20 Jahre M5, all red with black painted T-stars and polished lips. All of the "normal" M5 and M540i cars had silver painted throwing stars.

Maybe he meant the 5 star spoke section of the rim and not the covers themselves were painted black from the factory.. in which case, yes they were.

They look like goofy glasses when the top part of the halo isnt cut off. Eyebrows dont look right on the E34 either. The bright spots are also very noticable.

I dont know. I have to say that its a tie for smileys and angels. I like the way the smileys light up. But I love the clear lenses on the Angels. The clear looks makes the car seem newer. Fresh is the word Ill use. Like a breath of fresh ass. I got angels on mine, but no pics. Wait till tomorrow or something. Ill see what I can muster up. Weather just got nice so its time for a wash.

going back to the original question, i don't think angel eyes look right on the e34. you can't beat the classic look of the city lights on the smiley's with the parking light deleted on the corner lights.
