So I've been driving my car around all weekend and its been fine. I went out about an hour ago to visit some friends for dinner and on the way my car started stallin on me.
It was only when the engine was at idle speed. If I kept the RPM's up the car was ok and when it stalled the power brakes & steering would quit. Trippy stuff when I'm goin 30 in heavy city traffic. The car starts right back up each time it stalls & the CEL light is on.
Anyone experience this?
Its an Alusil block.

similar thing happened to me last summer. I had some work done on the car and just picked it up from the mechanic. Drove fine for a few miles. I accelerated hard out of a corner and as I let off the gas to come back to cruising speed CEL came on and car stalled. It started back up immediatley and I carried on. Everytime I slowed for a light or corner it would happen again. Started to try to make my way back to the shop but it got more and more frequent and impossible to keep the rpm up enought to keep it running. Eventually I gave up and called for a tow, didn't want to blow anything up or have an accident. Turns out when they were under the hood they had dislodged a vacuum hose and it eventually popped right off. Sorry I can't tell you where the hose is located but it was about a five minute fix and ran fine after that. With a little luck maybe that's your problem too.

Could be a number of things. Vacuum hose came off, exhaust or intake camshaft position sensors or MAF. If you can get your error code(s) read, you'll find out exactly what it is usually. My guess is MAF, then exhaust CPS. My car was doing the exact same thing and found thru diagnostic that it was indeed a failing MAF.

It was the vacuum hose that came off. Cheap fix and the car is back to normal.
