Any of you folks, S folks especially, experience any torque steer with the FWD Mini???

I've definately not experienced any. MINI claims that there is none due to the equal length half shafts... but I've heard (from other Cooper people of course :D) that the S does have some torque steer... but the S crowd seems to think that this is untrue... I doubt it would have much of any, if any though.... lets wait for Snapper or Beastmaster to answer though..... they're the ones with holes in their noses :D

I haven't noticed torque steer. However, I have noticed severe tramlining when punching it off the line on uneven surfaces.

Thanks for the feedback!

None here. I have not noticed any torque steer or wheel hop while under extreme acceleration. Even when powering out of corners the car feels like it is flat.

That is extremly good to hear!!! :evil2

I agree. It holds speed well through a turn. I've only gotten it to exhibit understeer once; when I carried too much speed into a turn. LOL. Duh.

Snap, not sure, but I already have a standing order to run Omer's 600 hp M Coupe at the track when I arrive..., so we can add your car to that list... :)

I will, but realistically, it could be a while for me to get South... :(

The Cooper S will torque steer on uneven or loose surfaces, or when tire grip is compromised, especially with some power mods.

Thanks, badbadm... Does the car track/slot in pavement with grooves, etc...?

The tires are skinny enough that this is not much of an issue. Under braking, generally, it won't do it. Under full power, sometimes (grooves in pavement compromise grip again).

There is a Mini S on a lot in Cullman, AL for sale with 850 miles on it... 23K... or less....

I felt like they would let you test drive it. But you would have to come south.

It's the best-handling fwd car ever made, by most accounts, if that makes you feel better. It out-slaloms the E46 M3 fairly easily.

Thats partially because of its much shorter wheelbase, but it definately holds is own with the much bigger hitters :buttrock

Oh, and Dave, its silver, and I think its still there
