I have been contacted by a few members to try and get a club going. We had previously sent in pictures and info to Eurowerkz, and they were very busy with an upcomn show and getting the cars ready. They sent me a response, and they didnt have enough pictures of each car, and they wanted group shots. So no decision was made at that point.

I have received what exactly we need from each car and EVERYONE interested in this opportunity. We will all need to find a date to meet, cars washed, waxed, ready to go, you know the deal, and get specific pictures. I know you say, but we can do this on our own. One of the main members who runs the west coast, specifically wanted some group shots and such, so thats the reason. (and we can turn this opportunity into a meet/cruise/BBQ)

Please let me know if your interested in this, and available days and such.
I will be on leave from the 19th through Sept 3rd, and have some mods to finish myself. Looking to give everyone a couple weeks to finish up mods in progress, prepare, blah, blah, blah..

Thinking 3rd-4th weekend in September. Please let me know what you think and we can go from there... Take care everyone

I am voting for the 3rd week in September. I don't know if I will be here during the 4th week. I will be taking off for the Philippines for 3 to 4 months.

I don't take off till the last week of Sep. If you want to do something before then that would be great. I don't know exactly how long I will be gone to P I. The army is saying 3 to 4 months but you know how that goes. How about something around the 16th or 17th of Sep?

not big time modified, but a good base to work off....

looking for people who have something "different" about their cars that create interest in their club, and someone willing to get into car shows to put their name out

looking for people willing to continue working on their cars and spending time promoting...

im sure gmhl10 can get you more info as to what a car club is looking for in a member as he has done this before with some high end car clubs

Would this a BMW only club?

the club we are trying to get together would be joining a pre-existing BMW only club out of the mainland... they have members in all different states, and just trying to start a chapter out here in hawaii

eurowerkz is the name of the club

Actually Eurowerkz is not a BMW only club! If you look at the Virginia Chapter (http://www.eurowerkz.com/gallery/Virginia-Chapter) there are Bimmers, Audis, Mercedes and VWs in that club.

im sure gmhl10 can get you more info as to what a car club is looking for in a member as he has done this before with some high end car clubs

Things that show car clubs are looking for in members.
- The unique look in your car, as long as it meets group conformity. Sometimes... ugly is a good thing.. because mainly, the # of mods is what wins car shows (quantity > quality - reason for this is because most judges will probably know about cars, but just not your make and model). However... that "ugly" has to conform with your group since appearance is a matter of opinion. Take TWC for example... all luxury/luxury sport high end cars and mods. Say for example... you got a Honda Accord, but you got all the high end quality mods, they still gotta conform with their theme so that car would not be admitted in TWC. Same goes for it you got a high end car like a E55 AMG, but you got a ton of cheapo replica mods you bought off eBay, that will also not be admitted. A huge majority of the TWC cars got the wheel/bbk thing going on where they take off the wheel and display their sponsor tire and show off their huge brakes. For those that don't have it, I'm pretty sure they will in the near future. Take here in Hawaii for example. EFI Unlimited looks for high performance and performance modded cars while XK looks for show style modded luxury cars. Be sure to know what the club is looking for.

- If your car is already highly modded, you still need to set some plans for future mods. Possibly putting in new stuff or changing out existing stuff. As nice as a car is... if it looks the same throughout every car show, then it'll just be another "i've seen that before" and will no longer help bring attention to the club.

- Dedication to the club. Attend the meetings. Some clubs have membership dues... pay them. Support and spread the word. Don't do anything stupid to misrepresent the club like getting caught illegally street racing. It's why as much as the car is a factor, the owner's character is also a factor. As much as I hate stickers on a car, for a car show, something needs to be done to show your unison such as matching t-shirts or something to show that you're with the club like putting on stickers. It does no good to the group if you don't show your "team colors"... and let's say a magazine photographer comes by and thinks you're a solo entry. BTW... this also applies if you have sponsors.

When I was interviewing new applicants when I was with Speed Archictect, I looked at a lot of these things. Our group was looking for cars that were clean (not flashy looking), but still highly modded with both show and performance (more towards performance... as the name suggests). But we weren't really looking for a specific brand of cars... we were looking for cars of all classes. We were looking for about 1 or 2 cars of each. We had cars from EP3 Civics and S14 Silvias to BNR32 Skyline GT-R and FD3S RX-7 to 996 Turbo and Aston Martin DB9. We didn't want too much of one type of car so that we could reach out to people that say, "oooh.. a nice car I'm familiar with," or "sweet! a rare car I barely see!" This goes into again... WHAT IS THE CLUB LOOKING FOR? We looked at what mods the applicant had on the car (tells us something about the applicant's personality and taste in styling and whether they are more performance or styling oriented... also, the more serious ones had more custom stuff or more stuff to show us) and what future plans the person had (tells us which direction they plan on going to and if it conforms with the group's direction).

We had bi-monthly meetings where we discussed when the next show was and details of it... who's doing anything new to their car or any updates... sponsorship info... We dropped members that didn't show to 3 of the meetings in a year (I mean.. it's only 6 meetings per year) because it showed lack of dedication. The meeting dates were given 2 months in advance so there would have been plenty of time to schedule and if something keeps coming up that's more important... the club must not be important to pick that over the club.

When sponsors get involved, the club is really no longer just a group that a bunch of friends put together. It becomes a business agreement. Most sponsors make you sign a contract that you'll do this many shows/events a year and show off and promote their product. If you do not, you're obligated to buy the product you were sponsored for at full retail price plus shipping. This also applies to if there is a breach of contract and some sponsors, like Bridgestone tires, will terminate the contract and you will have to pay for it if you're caught street racing or some other way of misrepresenting their product. Some clubs will be this strict too (especially the big name ones). Know that sponsors are easier to obtain while being in a car club than not being in one because it shows the sponsor that you're more likely to have the vehicle attend events than a solo.

Hmm... yea... super long post... but hopefully it was informative. I think I covered most of what a car club is looking for in an applicant. Just remember... clubs are looking for conformity in uniqueness, dedication to the club, and positive representation of the club.
