View Full Version : Anyone have a similar experience with Mpact?
TC535i 08-09-2006, 03:08 PM Ordered GC spring hats 2 weeks ago, and I've yet to see them. Call this morning to see what's up, guy takes my cell # and email address.
So I get an email at 10:15 this morning...
Tim, after rattling our supplier’s cage, I got this tracking number and an assurance you would see the shipment tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
UPS # 1Z8391E40149339287
Thanks so much for your order! I hope your track day is great!

So I reply to the email...

Hmm... that number is coming back as unable to track. Do you know what address they sent it to?

And I get a reponse...
My mistake in not giving more info, Tim… the shipment hasn’t gone out yet, it will go out later today, so that’s why you see nothing on the tracking history.

Buddy of mine ordered RTABs online and paid for overnight. They didn't ship till 5 days later... again, the supplier to blame. :dunno They refunded him the difference in shipping between overnight and standard, but, still...
Anybody else have problems and get the supplier story?
Steve J. 08-09-2006, 03:25 PM Sounds like a GC issue, not Mpact. Search for GC, a lot of similar problems have been posted with customer service. Just going off whats been posted. Apparently you are not alone.
tynashracing 08-09-2006, 04:10 PM Wow, I'd be a bit PO'd.
FWIW, when buying anything related to Ground Control...deal with BimmerWorld. I'm sure there are others...but I've had nothing but exceptional service from James Clay and his crew.
I was in a huge pinch for a front sway bar for the Summit Point race. Called James Clay a few days before the event and told him about my dilemma. James had the GC sway bar at my home in time for me to install. Shipping was expedited to ensure a timely delivery. Cudo's to BimmerWorld's customer service!
Sheesh, even after all that...I still didn't make the race weekend:(

TC535i 08-09-2006, 04:53 PM Just to clarify, I'm not "bashing" anybody... just posting two seperate yet similar experiences, and trying to derive commonality between them and the experiences of others. GC had nothing to do with my buddy's RTABs, which is why I was wondering where the responsibility laid with my transaction. As long as it gets here tomorrow as promised, it's not really an issue (altho most places don't charge your card unless they're sending something out...)
DaveCN 08-09-2006, 05:06 PM Pretty common a shipping tracking number will get assigned but not show up until that night in the shipper's system.
hell, I have had something in FedEx showing merely that they received the shipper's billing info, on a ground shipment, and nothing was ever updated, and two days later its at my door - and it never shows it even shipped at fedex.com.

I understand that, but the fact that they charged my card said they were going to ship it out, and nothing happened until 2 weeks later when I called doesn't say much for Mpact. If you read the emails, Dan admits it hadn't even gotten to UPS.
TC535i 08-09-2006, 06:56 PM For the record, I called UPS with that tracking number. They said it's next day air, set to pick up today and deliver tomorrow. She wouldn't know if it actually got picked up until tonight after the drivers get back and everything processes (9pm), but that gave me hope that it was scheduled and everything...
Wiseguy ON 08-09-2006, 07:58 PM Tim,
I'm not surprised. We had a LONG wait for a set of coilovers for an E30 M3 from them, apparently because of a holdup by Koni. THe more people get added to the supply chain, the worse it gets.
M Rob 08-10-2006, 12:18 AM Tim,
Sorry you had to wait for so long. When you ordered, we did not have an extra set of top hats sitting on the shelf so we asked GC drop ship them. On the 28th we received a confirmation email saying they had gone out, so we charged your card. From there as far as we knew it was on its way to you.
When you called letting us know you hadn't seen it, we called GC to see what was going on. They couldn't find a tracking number for the original order. I don't know if they didn't ship it or UPS lost it, but we had them send another set, then we popped for Next Day Air, sent you an email within a couple of hours with the tracking number. Hopefully that speaks for our customer service. If you try the tracking number now, it is valid, picked up and on its way to you for a delivery tomorrow.
Wiseguy,
We did have a long delay for the E30 kit, but as we mentioned it was because of a huge shortage of Konis at GC. I really wish I could keep dozens of Koni's on the shelf for every fitment, but when we order 100 but only get 25 from them, it doesn't help things.
MPACT is GC's largest BMW dealer, and trust me when I tell you our customers get their GC products as fast or faster than anyone. But no, unfortunately we don't have ultimate control over inventory levels there or when they ship things out. But we commit to continue to do our best.
TC535i 08-10-2006, 12:01 PM I can confirm that it was picked up yesterday, and the number shows expected delivery for today.
It's unfortunate that the consumer has to deal with service like this, but at least we can commiserate with Mpact. I appreciate your guy's insistance for them to overnight it. It's unfortunate that nothing happened until I called and checked, but I understand that from your side, you were assured it was sent out originally.
I wonder what it'll take to get GC to take orders seriously (since it doesn't seem like I'm the only person to experience this from them...) Maybe another coilover setup at the same price point? TCK should look into the feasability of something like that, I'm sure lots of people would support it. :dunno
