Should be plenty in E Mass. You'll really, really want to try them on. Fit is important for both safey and comfort. Do you wear glasses? tynashracing 08-08-2006, 04:24 PM where is a good place to look for racing helmets that are moderatly priced and good quality for auto-x and track use purposes TIA :) If you can't visit a shop to try on helmets...make darn sure that the company you're dealing with will gladly accept the helmet back to either exchange or get your money back if it's not what you want or doesn't fit. That said, I purchased my Arai GP5K from Apex Performance. Mention this site and I bet Linda would consider giving you a discount! They have helmets in all price ranges. Ken jkuper 08-08-2006, 04:41 PM www.ogracing.com will work with you on fitments I think...call and ask for Brian A ///Monster 08-08-2006, 05:27 PM I just picked up a simpson super bandit from www.saferacer.com I got the fit right the first time but they said they would gladly let me return it and send me another if it were wrong. ///M3Augy 08-08-2006, 05:31 PM thanks guys now i just gotta figure out what i need ha M3 Pete 08-08-2006, 05:37 PM moderately priced helmets typically include G Force and Pyrotect and HRC, and Bieffe if you can find them. At the next level it's Bell and Simpson, then you go up again to Arai, Sparco, Stand21, etc. All the shops already mentioned have pretty good websites to compare the helmet features. But you should try them on to be sure. TC535i 08-08-2006, 05:46 PM I picked up a Pyrotect (made by Bell) for $160 + tax at a race shop in San Diego. Sa05. m3ltw98 08-08-2006, 07:01 PM Another positive note for Apex Performance. I ordered an Arai GP5K yesterday and said I needed it by wednesday at the latest as I leave for canada early thursday morning for a race. Sure enough, Linda had one in stock and got it sent out with overnight shipping at no charge with the HANS anchors already installed. scottbm3 08-08-2006, 07:07 PM Another positive note for Apex Performance. Nothing beats the service at Apex Performance, and they put on a pretty nice dinner spread too.:alright tynashracing 08-08-2006, 07:32 PM Another positive note for Apex Performance. Same experience here. Hey, I got the flat black helmet...what did you end up with? Ken essejM3 08-08-2006, 08:01 PM Another vote for Apex here. I ordered my HANS at a NICE BF discount. My size was on national backorder. Linda's husband (can't recall his name), called me the next day and appolgized and gave me the exact day it would be at my house. And they sent me a 15% off coupon in the box (which I susequently lost). Great people, and great prices :buttrock m3ltw98 08-08-2006, 09:04 PM Linda is off the chain with customer service. Ken I went with gloss white as I'll have tyler paint it in the offseason tynashracing 08-08-2006, 09:08 PM I went with gloss white as I'll have tyler paint it in the offseason Sounds good. I hope my flat black holds up to the abuse. The helmet fits amazingly well. I'll be happy to finally get to wear it out on the track:buttrock Ken m3ltw98 08-08-2006, 09:13 PM I tried an Arai GP5K on at OGRacing back in early June and immediately loved it. Such a better fit and feel than the Simpson Super Voyager I have now. Cannot wait to get it in and wear it at Tremblant. Jake tynashracing 08-08-2006, 10:19 PM so I guess Arai helmets are the best fitting helmets on the market....or at least that's what everyone who has ever tried them on has said... Jake I've never had the opportunity to try on the Stand21...but I hear they are awesome. Of course, I think they're about double what I spent on the Arai GP5K. So, for the price...the Arai was absolutely the best fitting helmet I could find in that price range for my particular head.;) Ken ajw45 08-08-2006, 11:18 PM Go to HMS motorsports near the 95/128 split. You've to try a helmet before you buy.... |
