If you can't visit a shop to try on helmets...make darn sure that the company you're dealing with will gladly accept the helmet back to either exchange or get your money back if it's not what you want or doesn't fit.

That said, I purchased my Arai GP5K from Apex Performance. Mention this site and I bet Linda would consider giving you a discount! They have helmets in all price ranges.

moderately priced helmets typically include G Force and Pyrotect and HRC, and Bieffe if you can find them. At the next level it's Bell and Simpson, then you go up again to Arai, Sparco, Stand21, etc.

All the shops already mentioned have pretty good websites to compare the helmet features. But you should try them on to be sure.

I picked up a Pyrotect (made by Bell) for $160 + tax at a race shop in San Diego. Sa05.

Another positive note for Apex Performance. I ordered an Arai GP5K yesterday and said I needed it by wednesday at the latest as I leave for canada early thursday morning for a race. Sure enough, Linda had one in stock and got it sent out with overnight shipping at no charge with the HANS anchors already installed.

Another vote for Apex here. I ordered my HANS at a NICE BF discount. My size was on national backorder. Linda's husband (can't recall his name), called me the next day and appolgized and gave me the exact day it would be at my house. And they sent me a 15% off coupon in the box (which I susequently lost). Great people, and great prices :buttrock

I tried an Arai GP5K on at OGRacing back in early June and immediately loved it. Such a better fit and feel than the Simpson Super Voyager I have now. Cannot wait to get it in and wear it at Tremblant.

I've never had the opportunity to try on the Stand21...but I hear they are awesome. Of course, I think they're about double what I spent on the Arai GP5K. So, for the price...the Arai was absolutely the best fitting helmet I could find in that price range for my particular head.;)

Go to HMS motorsports near the 95/128 split. You've to try a helmet before you buy....
