Here's a little parable once told to me by an expatriate American who had been living in France for nearly 10 years. Change all the continent references to State, and change all the France references to California, and I think you'll get our point.

Because it isn't tropical. And I prefer it that way. We had some freakish monsoon weather for the first few weeks of July, it was miserable.

The last big earthquake we had was 12 years ago, and it ruined homes in a few cities. When was the last time a hurricane came through, and how many cities or counties did it ruin?

What I like most about Florida is the weather, still not over populated(but getting there), and the cost of living is average (but below average for this type of living).
