I registered for the event. Still waiting for my official confirmation, however.

Oh, and for people who are curious: http://www.kcrally.com

bah, what a joke... the previous week is the CCA-MVC Black Hills Road rally... lots more driving, much better roads and scenery, and a billion times cheaper.

and at least 3 members of this forum are going!

And where might I find info on that one? I like the idea of it starting and ending locally. Is the other one similar? Thanks.

costs: gas for 1100-1400 miles (depending on many factors), Lodging ($150-200 total for three nights), and food ($50 for group meals plus a few lunches on your own).

Iron Mountain Road/Needles Highway is pretty much a longer version of the tail of the dragon/Deal's Gap. I'm not kidding.

It's very much like Cannonball Run, with our faithful President Jeff Gomon playing the part of Dom Deluise and Sheridan filling in for Burt Reynolds, sans the 'stache...

it is not a race, its a social event, honestly... there is just a lot of driving on some really awesome roads.

whether or not you exceed the speed limit is up to you....

last year someone did a tach-verified 132mph... I wonder who that was...:devillook :devillook :devillook :devillook

its not a race, not timing equipment is used outside of the various OBCs and GPS units running.

we'd love to have you... we can reasonably accomodate about 30-35 people at the moment... and we've just barely got half of that.

this is not a race, its just fun... the road we drive that morning is AMAZING... last year the president's wife had an open bowl of cereal in his M5 during the drive... so this year we are doing one scenic drive and one "scenery be damned" drive on that road.

one of the participants had a scion last year... I had the E28, a BUNCH of tourings (all E46) E34M5, E36 325i vert, E36 328ia, E60 545ia, E34 525ia (M50), E90 325i, an MB E320, E46 330Xia... I think that's most of them.

pretty good group. this year it looks like the infamous E34 535iT/5 will be with us, my new 318i, Jeff and Molly are talking abotu leaving their touring and taking their S52 M Roady, Tarun and julie will likely have the touring, Jeff's M5 again, the same 545i, well... a good bunch of cars.

this will be the last trip to SD for a few years, we're going to select a new location next year.

something like 5pm or so... Molly Kliment and Jeff Jenkins will be rolling across on I-90 from Sioux Falls, so you could hook up with them as well.

drop me an email and I'll get you in on the details.
