I just ordered my M Coupe a few days ago. I plan on attending 6-10 track days per year and maybe a few auto-x's. I know it's a very new car but does anyone know of tuners that are working on or already sell things like suspension, exhausts, sway bars etc? I ordered mine with the premium pack but the power seats (heavy as hell I assume) are getting yanked and sealed away. I've been looking at seats from Sparco and Recaro but can anyone recommend some lightweight but comfortable everyday driving seats? It won't be my daily driver but I'd like a seat that isn't completely track oriented.

Thanks in advance!
Dan

Sparco Milano 2's are really nice Monza's maybe. If you want light and Comfortable i'm sure there are some pricy Bride seats.

sparco milanos are too heavy. Go with sparco torino

they're about 30lbs each, and offer good lumbar support unlike BMW seats

Drive it stock with stock 9 x 18+255/40-18 rears all around before doing any mods. You might be surprised how little the Z4 M needs--especially if you're a novice--heck as a seasoned opentrack driver--I'd drive the Z4 M Coupe bone stock, and gloat over how many modded sports track cars rendered the "point by" signal LOL :)

I drove my wife's Z4 3.0 BONE STOCK at the track once, and was surprised that I was able to keep up with other BMWs with trick aftermarket suspension and r-comps, and was able to pass a Porsche 996 Turbo S with relative ease.

The Z4 platform is already more capable in stock form than a good majority of the cars out there. With most modern BMWs it's the driver limiting the performance of the car, not the other way 'round.

I take it this will reduce the understeer mentioned in every good magazine?

I'm not planning on buying the car and throwing a bunch of stuff at it for the sake of spending money. I simply want to reduce some weight and get better seats. As far as suspension goes I'm coming to the M Coupe from a Lotus Elise so I know what great handling is like. Adjustability is important and I've got a shop that can corner balance and setup the suspension nicely. They build Daytona Prototypes. It will see plenty of track time before I let it get my wallet.

A little off topic... but why are you getting rid of the Lotus?

I've had it for 2 years and I'm ready for a change. I test drove a Z4 M Roadster and saw a 3.0 Z4 Coupe about 3 weeks ago. The Elise is a great track car but driving it any distance beyond 1-2 hours is torture for me. I'm going from 1900lbs/200hp to 3200lbs/330hp so I may not be as fast in the corners but I'm ready for torque again.

Ah... I'm of the "no replacement for displacement" school myself... so I hear you loud and clear.
