I think this part of the description ("upgraded from the M10") is repetitious and would sound/read much better as "derived from the M10."
I know it a small difference, but sometimes the small things count for a lot.

Would it be better saying it was derived from the M88/S38?

I personally have always thought the entire description was just wrong and never gave the model the respect that it deserves. Saying 'developed by BMW M division to be an upgrade to the E30 3 series..." is not correct. It was developed only because BMW wanted to enter touring car racing, and due to the rules of the time in order to race, you had to build at least 5000 examples for sale to the public within a years time. The E30 M3 is more than just an 'upgrade' to a regular E30-in a number of respects it is a different car entirely.
The 'upgraded from the M10' does need to be changed-it shares the basic block but that is about it. And the last part-'known to be quite powerful and nimble for its time'...to the person that wrote this, it STILL IS nimble-hell, a lot more nimble than many newer BMW's that have followed. Now, I wouldn't call it powerful in today's over 250HP is the norm world, but it is still pretty quick in a straight line.
There are so many things you can say about the E30 M3, but there is not enough space to say up there at the top. Whatever replaces it should try to contain a few of the important facts, or touch on some of them:
-This is a true homologation car-designed as a a race car but adapted for street use.
-Relatively low production numbers, and are rare these days.
-The most successful touring car of all time.
-Built when M truly meant Motorsport, not Marketing.
There are more, but I have already made this too long. I will step off of my soapbox now...:)
Very good points guys. I'll see if I can do something.
