Don't do it. You'll regret it after the fourth or fifth hour in line.

As much as I want to get out there, the idea of sitting in line for 4 hours to get 5 minutes in a car I have no intent of buying is a bit off. What's the deal with the Chevy event the following weekend?

I'm signed up for the event. I like Mazdas.

It really depends upon my work schedule. I want to go to the MBCA Auto-X that weekend too, it would be the last one I could get in before I head down to school and run in Dixie SCCA.

If you want to do the same thing but not wait in line, go find someone who has an RX-8, MX-5, etc and ask to let you co-drive at the DC SCCA autocross on the 13th. You'll stand around just as much, but you'll actually get to drive fast.

That's just the thing. Your time slot doesn't mean a thing. It did back when it was RevitUp, but not with Zoom Zoom.

so i went today, had a fucking blast!!!! the lines had a very minimal wait and it was all covered/shade area and it was cool in the morning.

drove the shit outta the mazdaspeed6, mx-5 miata, rx-8, and the cx-7 turbo suv.....

i was most impressed with the miata and see now why all the SCCA guys build them up for autox. was soo fun.

i got "kicked out" :rofl my 1st "no-no" was when i dumped the clutch @ 5000rpm on the rx-8, but then later in the day everybody was doing it. lol.

then my 2nd offense was when i was in the miata. was a very fun car to toss around with very minimal understeer. i came in hot into one turn, held a powerslide, came into the next turn, went too hot, dove into the brakes and took out a shit load of cones. bahhahaha

was all good fun though, the autox (mazdaspeed6) time to beat was a 43:00 and i ran a best of 43:301.... mediocre, but one guy with a white M3 t-shirt ran a 42:121. pretty nice.....

saw gary lin's M3 swapped 318ti (4wdrift) and a celica alltrac (turbo, awd) and some other sweet cars there. not to mention the WDCR was holding their autox in the next lot.

fun day, definitely worth the free ride....

haha i went too. it was great fun. ran a 23.00x in a mazda 6 wagon, on the time match course. they werent as happy about that time as i was.

also almost got kicked out for drifting the miata... i had an awesome drift going, but ended in a tank slapper and took out half a dozen cones. oh ya i did a big burnout too.

I went on Sat with a bunch of friends. I didn't sleep the previous night and I didn't feel like driving so I rode in a van with a bunch of friends --- big mistake. I arrive around 8:15 and started driving around 8:30. Not many people in line. I drove about 8 laps in RX8 and another 8 in the Miata, 1 time in the Mazda 6. (I ran 44.1 with the time to beat 42.5.) Then my friends said it's boring and they need to go. Sh*t! Since I had to ride with others, I got no choice but to leave. :( I hate my lame friends who got frustrated by performance driving. But 2.5 hrs for 17 runs, very good comparing with AutoX which you spent 4 hrs (including working and the actual driving) but only get 4-6 runs). I love this event! But yeah, you need to arrive very early or else you'll be in the line.
