I'm trying to sell an s52 engine and i want to run a compression test on it - i think i might have a bad head gasket and i want to advertise it correctly. does anyone have the stuff to do a compression test? i'm in zip code 20877.

Compression test won't give an accurate indication if you have a leaking headgasket (if it's blown between cylinders like most BMW motors do). You need a leakdown tester for that.

Regardless, I have a compression test set you could use. I'm in columbia.

its only got 43.5k miles on it...i'm trying to work out a deal right now with a guy in PA - he's offered me $3760 if i include the differential, but he's asking for compression/leakdown numbers. oh and i'm delivering it all to him in my truck. if anyone wants to beat that deal, let me know. i'm just trying to make some money here.

E36 ///M motors seem extremely prone to this.

No my friend totalled my car and flipped it- it ran upside down for about 5 seconds. The reason i think i might have a blown head gasket is that the two times i've started the engine there was a bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. It oculd just be oil burning off, but i really don't know.
