Hey, is have a 97 540i. Lately (since its summer), I've been hearing water in the center console and it started to worry me. I took the rear vent out over the rear cup holders and saw a puddle of water in the vent itself above the air bag module. There is soo much water in this vent that when the a/c is on hi...I heard gurguling.

Is there a drain tube that is supposed to be there somewhere that might be clogged or what? Please shine some light on this misterious water for me. Thank you.

had exactly the same problem 2 weeks ago.

1. probably, you will notice that the a-c drain do not drain under your car. Do you see water under your car when the a-c in on? If not, Its the drain.

2. Had my AC drain cleaned by my mechanic. Did it in 90 minutes.

did they clean from the inside or outside? Also, did your mechanic have to remove the center console?

Good question. He told me he had to open the central front console. I suppose he did ot from inside to outside. Never had any problem after.
