SSR Comps weigh next to nothing - I think they are a bit too soft for the roads of Cleveland, but they may be OK for Oceanside....

18" BBS RK's are light as well.

Mine feel extremely light. I'm not sure the weight, though, but it feels like i'm driving with stock rims except with better road-holding capabilities. :D

ACS 18 x 8.5 type 3 one piece weight 20.9 lbs each. factory 17 inch wheels average 24 lbs.

When I went from my Stock 10 spokes to my 18" HM2's I felt a noticable difference in accelleration.. Anybody have some pics of these wheels mentioned?

bbs rcj's are 17.9 lbs for 18x8 and 18.7 lbs for 18x9. of course they are also like $700 a wheel. they're forged though; very strong.

cheers,
john

check out their 2 piece wheels where you do not see the bolt pattern.

i called them 18" custom forged wheels. $1900/ set of four.
you can have them make it any offset you want. i believe they weigh only 20lbs./wheel.

i am not sure if the center is forged and the rim is cast. if it is anything like the HREs, the the only the center is forged which sucks. the rim is not very strong.

i personally like the m-contour 17" rims for the M3. a mean stance. they weigh about 22 lbs. not bad....and it'll give you a good comfortable ride.

Brett,

If your HM2's are 18x8.5's they only weigh 24#. Not bad, actually.

Other lightweight wheels available for E36's...

SSR Comps ~17# (I have heard as low as 15.5#)
ACS Type 3 ~21#
SSR GT1 ~19#
OZ Superleggera ~19#
Roja Formula 5 ~20#
BBS RC ~20#
BBS RCJ ~18#
BBS LM ~22#
BBS RK ~18#
SSR Integral (discontinued) ~20#
Team Dynamics Qualifier ~21# (not sure if this is still made)
Enkei RP0-2 ~21#
Racing Hart C2 ~21.5#
Flik Lex ~22#

The BBS RG-R (~18#) looks like it is coming to the USA. I would expect these to still be hard to get.

Some of the Team Dynamics forged line are under 20#, I do not know about BMW fitaments, however.

If money is no option, Fikse, Kinesis, some HRE, iForged, etc...

Erik,

Have you ever actually weighed your wheels? Every bit of informaiton I have puts RX's considerably heavier... ~24# in 18x8 - according to TireRack (which I am assuming looked at BBS specs) and the links above.

I would love to find out that RX's are lighter than I thought. A cheaper alternative to the RC's would be nice.

Thanks,

They are definitely lighter than 24lbs. The whole combo (wheels and tires) is lighter than my stock 17x7 ten spokes with tires. I thought they were like 19.5 lbs when I weighed one that I was having a new tire put on it. I may have been hitting the crack that day, though.....I will weigh them again when I slap new meats on them.

The lightest weight wheel we carry is the SSR Comp. The 17X8 wheel is 14.5 lbs. They are a forged wheel that is light weight and strong. With this wheel you can go bigger and wider and still reduce unsprung weight.
All of the other wheels people listed are light with the OZ Super Leggera being 17X8 16.5 lbs.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

It would probably help me also. I am not sure why we don't. I do know we are entering all the wheel info into the computer currently. The wheel suppliers do not supply us with the info.
If you have a wheel or wheels you are interested in let me know.
Thank you
