View Full Version : Re-Torquing Intake Manifold Bolts, Etc.?

On the old iron small-block Fords I used to work on, we always used to have to retorque the intake manifold bolts after a few days of operation, as we were using those composition gaskets that would settle under the initial pressure and could sometimes start leaking. Is this necessary or good practice on the BMW M62 V-8, et. al., where everything seems to be rubber or neoprene gaskets and seals?

As long as the bolts aren't loose, retorquing isn't necessary or helpful. The resiliant gaskets don't compress with time and require the resultant gap to be taken up.
