Are you serious. The 335i has already had it's press release come out and they're already shipping. It's an FI I6, Fan of the 2002 much then you must like turbos since the 2002 turbo is one of the rarest BMW's made

If M2 is going to look like exactly like in pictures it was shown back awhile ago in some european magazine, I'm definately getting one, and I much rather have 335i bi-turbo! So much torque down low and so much more room to go for more power, :), but I don't know, to each his own I guess.

I think the 2 series is slightly retarded, but that certainly looks like a nice handeling car.

Really? I dunno about that. I think the US is ripe for a smaller coupe from BMW. The new 3 series are larger and larger.

///M2 would be perfect...I don't even care which engine they use N52B30, biturbo N54, S54....it would all be good as long as the weight stays below 3000lbs (2700-2800 would be great!). I'm almost afraid to ask what the price will be though...the new V8-engined M3 is gonna START around $60K (just a guess, so don't bother looking for a reference). I'd guess an M2 is gonna be well over $40K out the door :-(

The E92 Coupés have a problem. The 330i is slow and the gear rations including final drive are all wrong to give the 335i an edge, and the 335i is nearly unusable with manual transmission since it doesn't have limited slip differential, and with automatic tranny it's a boring old fart cruiser like a 540iA or similiar...

BMW really needs to start offering limited slip diff as an option to non-M vehicles.

Best regards,

Jussi

M2 doesnt look that great but performance potential sounds huge. Weight/Power ratio

And if it's an M car, it would have LSD, I really hope they build it. The problem might be that it might sell too much for the M motor factory to keep up, since their production is quite limited.

Best regards,

Jussi

ugh, please no. :( What's the purpose of having another production series BMW that is not that much smaller than the 3? I understand the 1 series, but a 2? That's like BMW producing another 8 series when we already have the 6er...pointless IMO.

that car looks horrible. I sense a parallel of this "2-series" car with the failure of the z1 roadster.

Failure of the Z1? Ummm...the Z1 was never intended to be a mass produced car...but it was just the opposite of a failure. It was introduced at the Frankfurt autoshow as a one-off show car. The public reaction was so positive that BMW "rushed" 8000 of them into production in 1990 & 1991. They never came to the U.S. because they could not be redesigned to meet U.S. safety standards. A few have recently been imported as exotic show cars, but there are significant restrictions on how much they can be driven on public roads here...

BTW, the "Z-link" rear suspension in your E36 3-series was pioneered on the Z1, so I would not call it a complete failure!

I think BMW is doing this to appeal to a crowd with less money to spend. Could be a great idea, and I definitely think it will work...

I prefer the z1 or z2 they are supposedly coming out with.

The US market isnt getting the 1 series. Instead plans are to bring the 1 series based 2er coupe and verts over.

the current 3 series is way too big for my taste

even the E36 is too big

I hope they bring a small coupe, like the E30 back, with a turbo sport option

but if it looks like the current 1 series, and new 3 series, NO THANKS

I wish they would make the E30 or 2002 again, like they did with the new mini, that car sells, I see WAY more mini's than I do any other new bmw

they would have to make it out perform the mini, in all areas to sell, and that would be great, the mini S is a fast little car

I work for a certain car company that would have inside knowledge....
