Any quick ways to check before I get all ready to go down and end up being turned away from the event?

Are you down to the wearbars? Are the edges of the tread worn through the primary layer of rubber into the secondary rubber? Either of these mean that your tires are too worn to run.

Maybe I should take pictures for you guys...I'm not sure of EXACTLY how you mean to say it...but on the very edges of the tread (like...theres tread, and it curves over to the sidewall), at that point, it's a bit worn...other than that...I guess I'll take pictures, would that help?

A 7 should be interesting in an Auto-X :D ...

a bit over (or near) the wear bars is okay, but if the cords on the tires are showing, I doubt they will let you run. Best of luck to you.

Tires can be completely bald but as long as you don't have any cords showing you'll pass Tech with no problem.


What autocross are you going to, the BMW CCA event in San Diego Saturday Nov 23? I'll be there bright and early :-)

I think minors under 18 have to have a note from their parents or something but i'm not sure. There is a 16 year old kid (who looks 13!) who runs his E30 318is at these events so you should contact the Autocross Chairman (Gordon) ASAP to find out what's required for minors to run (his email is linked from their webpage below). They do have some rental helmets but they sell out fast.
