View Full Version : Let's Add M coupe/roadster Z4 category!!
bayerishb 07-29-2006, 05:26 AM Why isn't there a separate categoy for the Z4 M series? all other M series cars have their own category. I think the new z4 M series as well should get posted to its own forum. How do you start a new forum categoy, anyone knows?

I asked one of the moderators, and I was told "there aren't enough people....."

You must be a newbee. The Z family have never been part of the M threads on this board rf.com or bfst.com.
Real Z enthusiasts have always liked being part of the family. We don't need to be segregated to feel special. Why do you think there's a Homecoming for Z but no other series....
bayerishb 07-29-2006, 09:13 PM well if somehow the folks in charge of this forum are adverse to the idea, i guess they own this space and it's ultimately their choice. but in terms of rationality and utility, it makes much more sense to separate the M from the regular Z4 as it's the case with every other M series car. i have to weed thru a boat load of discussion threads to find the ones that are M related in the Z4 section, and the z4M belongs amongst the other M cars on the bmw's main site information architecture as well. so true i just joined this month but I think you're going to have more and more z4 M series enthusiasts and drivers in the future and that begs the question of why they should look through a plethora of unrelated discussions to find ones that they are here to read about?
peace

Plethora? There's maybe 10 posts a day here! There's simply not enough traffic to warrant splitting the group up. Another Z4 forum I visit did the same thing, and it was totally unnecessary, imo. We're talking about very few Z4M owners, none of whose cars are older than 3 months - most M threads are along the lines of "Whoo! I got my car today!" Perish forbid such gems be left to wallow among the putrid refuse that non-M owners post.:rolleyes
z3papa 07-30-2006, 01:40 PM I guess you didn't notice they never separated or made a separate forum for the Z3M roadster/coupe despite those being around since 1998 and that's with nearly 40-50 persons actively posting daily. I guess you may feel as though searching through the Z4 board is tiresome when there is 5-8 people here at any one given time but the reality is the Z4 and Z4M have so many attributes/issues in common, to separate them into separate forums would be at best foolish.
bayerishb 07-31-2006, 02:35 AM well since i posted this in less than a day there's been over 100 views, so obviously we have quite an interest in this issue. i wish people who agree would also voice their opinion (hint hint). the e86 and e86 M have no more or less attributes in common with each other than e46 and its M and for that matter any M and its non M counterpart. it's a different engine, same body more or less. anything said about commonalities in the Z4 regular and M can be paralleled in other M and regular series cars. those others have individual forums and so should the e86. i think the real issue might be the law of supply and demand. we need more interested drivers on this forum express their wish. and just because this issue wasn't addressed back in the Z3 era doesn't mean it should remain that way. and i dont get this whole family business. everyone who comes to these forums is in a sense part of the bmw family. adding a logical additional service doesn't take anything away from this imagined family/community. i think it adds to it by respecting forum readers/writers and where they can expect to see their specific needs met.
so if more people dont post their opinions that they're interested in adding a new z4 M forum, i guess status quo will/shall remain.

Respecting heritage is something you sorely lack.
Thank god you are in the itsy bitsy minority point of view.
Go ahead & start your own forum & see how many show up for the Z4.
I know of another well known Z4 coupe dedicated forum that gets the same ~5 ppl voicing their opinions every day.
It gets a little boring & the lack of diversity is plain dumbing down the place.
z3papa 08-01-2006, 12:40 PM I could get 100 views from a thread about "bananas in the tail pipe" discussion from Eddie Murphy's line in 48 hours. People tend to look, to see what's up, if there is flaming going on, if the thread has hijacked into something interesting, for any reason. Just for the record, there are 10 people here altogether for the Z4 forum. 10. There are 55 here at this time for Z3 inclusive of the M crowd. There are over a 100 in some of the M3 or 3 series forums. There is a reason why there is not a subforum for this lower production model Z4 as compared to much wider produced other models. Chill out and grove with your brethern.

point well taken. like i said it's a basic supply and demand issue. there seems to be low demand. unlike trippym up there who likes to follow my posts around and reply filth and offtopic nonsense to them, you have a well articulated point. hopefully that'll change and there'll be more people interested in the future.
herbilly chillun,
