Hi guys, newbie here. About time a joined a BMW forum.

Ok so I'm just trying to figure out how BMW handles their model lifecycle to determine when the 1-series is likely to receive a facelift so please correct me if I'm wrong.

X5: Launched approx December 1999 - Facelift November 2003 (4 years)
7 Series: Launched approx June 2002 - Facelift February 2006 (3 1/2 years)
Z4: Launched approx May 2003 - Facelift October 2005 (2 1/2 years)
5 Series: Launched approx July 2003 - Facelift DUE (?? years)
X3: Launched approx November 2003 - Facelift July 2006 (2 1/2 years)
1 Series: Launched approx March 2004 - Facelift DUE (?? years)

For the life of me I see no pattern in the model lifecycle. Some vehicles have been revised within only 2 1/2 years of release, while the X5 was left to soldier on for nearly 4 years. Does anyone know when the 1 series is likely to receive a facelift? With the launch of the 3 door perhaps? Please respond if you have any idea.

Thank you

The one series is a 5 door model available in Europe right now. Nobody knows if it's coming to the US yet or not.

Thanks, I looked in another thread and found pictures of it. That needs to come to the US. Hopefully in the 30,000-40,000 range! $$$$

drop your average by about 10k, 40k for a 1 series would kill it's sales.

Most auto companys don't have a plan to when they change there models. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the corvette, and that came about do to circumstance and then became tradition.

I also would consider a facelift nothing to think on. Companys do this when they realize sales are sagging and they wanna revitalize a model. A cheap way to make the whole thing look new is to change the front panels, thus changing the whole frontal appearance.

Here's the mustang fox-body. It had the first config. from 79-83 i belive, then the second until it was replaced by the sn-95 model in 94.

Quite an improvement no? I sure wouldn't have bought the early version, and sales showed not many people were.

I knew someone would shit all over that post, but it wasn't about the mustang, it was about the facelift example.

So no need to be all insulted I put a mustang pic on a bimmer board, go whine to yourself.

Creepin,
Your Z rox. I used to have a Triumph of similar vintage, nothing beats those old i-6s

For the original poster; its generally right in the middle of the 7 year production cycle, rather consistently actually. Alot of your dates are off for production start and facelift start.

Just got my license plate, FIRST 1. :redspot
Now all I need is the car.

I've heard bad things about the 1 series.

You have to get the engine with some grunt, because the handling is great.

You need to get quite a few upgrades to make it compete with other 5 door cars... and the price of it is well above the price of a pretty decent rx-8...

Facelife and new models come whenever the market needs em. If its strating to look like it may be broken... fix it.

Usually BMW has their model out for around 7 years, and facelift halfway through.
