I'm thinking about the $15K, 462 bhp Dinan Supercharger package. I'm not interested in AA or anyone else. Please don't high-jack this thread, I'm not interested in debating the merits of other kits.
I'm only interested in hearing from M3 owners that actually purchased and/or installed either supercharger package from Dinan. Anecdotes are not helpful.
I noticed the "*" indicating that you need the Dinan exhaust and throttle bodies to make 462 bhp.
I've seen Marco's car and the install looks factory. Who else has opted for the Dinan Supercharger package (either one)? What was the actual final cost of the install? How many miles before the install and how many miles since? Have you had any warrantee work performed since the install? Problems? Kills? Any pros or cons would be helpful.
Thanks.

my friend has one.
he has an imola red 2004 6spd. i went with him about 6 weeks ago to check it out he just had it installed about 2 weeks ago.
had about 15k miles when its installed and it was amazing.
i think he paid about 24k total
the charger is 15995. he had to buy the throttle bodies for 1199... so thats about 17k. he already had the dinan exhaust/software/aftermarket suspension. so he didnt need to do that.. but 17k and labor was about 4800 and thats with a 10pct discount they gave him (i dont konw why). and with tax on top of all that it was about 24k. if you dont have anything and you have a bone stock m3, expect to pay in the low 30s for it with tax and everything.
but hes also just ordered dinan/brembo brakes and dinan 19" rims.. so theres another 12k or so, but that is all optional. i spoke with a guy at the dealership the last time i was there for service on my car and DINANs supercharger CAN BE RUN on your OEM factory tires/brakes. YOU HAVE enough traction on the 255/35/19s for the 462HP/330 torque dinan charger. Steve dinan recommends upgrading brakes and wheels because it would make the car better handling, as well as recommended the suspension.
hope this helps. the car is fast. AA may be faster, but ive driven this car and the driveablity and craftsmanship of dinan is unmatched IMO. install looked very clean. car made no funny noises, no jerks, and its been about 2 weeks i havent heard of any problems yet.

ill keep you posted if i hear anything.
oh and expect to take about 3-4 weeks for the supercharger to arrive. you order it, they custom make it because they dont have any lying around, all to match your year because there are minor changes that the dinan rep did not go into detail about for each year..
and install takes anywhere from 3-7 days. i think my friend waited about 3 1/2 weeks for the charger to come and 5 days to install. all work was performed at stevens creek bmw.
labor there is $155/hr.. you are welcome to buy the kit and have it installed elsewhere if you can find a reputable place that does good work for cheaper, but he just did SC/BMW because they gave him a loaner car and obvioiusly through a dealership there are less risks involved if/when there are problems arising from the install/charger performance.

I had the S3 kit installed at 12K miles and have put about 3K miles on it. The install looks factory. It comes off the line much quicker with the 3.91 and the power is very smooth. The boost kicks in at 4.5K and the car takes off from there. I definately notice that I have to lay into the brakes much more now. The car still runs great even though it has been 110 here (I can't tell if there is a drop in power at this temp but I'm sure there is). The car handles turns much better with the suspension upgrade but you don't need a kidney belt. Perfect for me as I don't intend on tracking this car. The only problem I had was a cat overheat warning that put the car into limp mode. I haven't had that problem since. The exhaust sounds great too. I used to have the AA exhaust that I liked quite a bit and I like the Dinan even more.
