View Full Version : just a thought.......
BoomerDJ 07-22-2006, 03:01 PM i had a thought while i was thinkin about painting my car. see i want to be different but not too different like "hey cops here i am!" so i was thinkin what if i took off the side trim? any ideas on how that would look. i am affraid of it ruining the e21 look too much which is one of my faves. opionons and if you have them picture are much appriciated :dunno
erzengel13 07-22-2006, 03:40 PM Well I don't have any pics (just to lazy to google the stuff), but IMO a bumper tuck, paint job (black?) and replace the trim with new stuff would make the car look nice and clean.
iamorami 07-22-2006, 05:23 PM I was thinking of doing it too. I searched for pics a while back, found some, and changed my mind. It doesn't look bad at all, but as for personal preferance, I like the more stock look. But my mind still isn't made up.
D'sE21 07-22-2006, 05:41 PM Heres a guy with no bumpers and no mouldings in Lebanon... looks awesome. Exactly what i would do. To each his own tho...
AE101 07-22-2006, 06:22 PM any pics of the rear?
Brewtech 07-22-2006, 06:38 PM that Lebanese Bimmer is like WHOA! Do eet!
D'sE21 07-22-2006, 10:27 PM Here's a pic of the back... btw the interior is gutted and he's running a 3.5 engine from an old 7 series.. and i think it might be turbo'd :) ... talk about keeping it sideways lol
BoomerDJ 07-22-2006, 11:30 PM from the back it kinda looks like a boat i dunno if i like the no bumber look

I agree, don't really care for the no rear bumper.
But damn, that's a sick car. It looks great without the trim too.
BoomerDJ 07-23-2006, 01:43 AM well now i deff wanna take off the side trim what do you think i should do with the fron t and rear bumpers leave or take off
BoomerDJ 07-23-2006, 03:01 PM ok so heres the status.....its still in planning but what does everyone think of me repainting my car the stock metallic-graphite and painting all my chrome black and putting black and white roundels on it
heres an example from one guy who did something like it

EFreak 07-23-2006, 04:55 PM If anything should stand out, it should be the roundels. Leave em blue and buy nice shiny new ones.

blitzed310 07-24-2006, 10:06 PM Its not like putting black roundels on a car is worth anything. Anyone with $7 and 5 mintues can do this, big deal.

whta mean...its not worth it to buy some?
D'sE21 07-25-2006, 03:07 AM DON'T leave those bumpers on man and paint em black. I did it on mine just for the first few weeks i had it cause its better then chrome, but your getting a paint job so its different. UNless ur putting on euro bumpers, then painting the bumpers black is SICK! But if ur keeping on the north american bumpers painting em black wont really matter, itll still look bad (they kill the look of the car). Dont get fooled by the picture of the e30, that has plastic bumpers its a completely different look. Whatever, its just my opinion, but id either get rid of those bumpers cause ur already doing paint so itll be cheap, or put on some euro bumpers and paint em the same as the car or keep em chrome, they look good either way. Good luck with the project :cool

D'sE21 07-26-2006, 08:55 PM there's a guy on ebay selling a pair of used ones, there not listed on ebay tho. they have slight surface rust on em tho, but no dents or holes, which is ideal if your gonna paint em. He asked me to make him an offer but i didnt, so i dunno how much hes letting em go for. But if you want, PM me and ill will try and get you his contact.
If you want new ones you can get em from bavauto.com. $700 for the complete set (front and back), plus shipping and stuff.
