Stett Performance in Plano ordered a CF hood for my E36 M3 on 7/13 and they didn't get it out until 7/17. My rental car expires on 7/22 and I start paying for it then. The hood could have been delivered tomorrow for $45 and I asked them to split the cost with me and the wouldn't do it. Chris Oneil at bk.com said that they would lose money on the deal if they paid for a special delivery. Wow!!! Someone needs to look at the business model if $45 is a losing proposition on a $700 hood!! If you go to their web site you'll notice they offer "Fast Shipping". HA!!!!

CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE - DO NOT ORDER FROM BODY-KITZ.COM

Did they give you an excuse? Backordered?

I bet you could have gotten an OEM hood in less time than that. I feel no compassion for you having to pay for a rental car during the overlap time. I assume it is your insurance company paying for your rental car? If so, then it is kids like you that cause all of our rates to go up. If you had just gotten an OEM hood, then you likely would have been back in your car by now, and you wouldn't be maxing out your rental.

If I am off on this, lemme know. Thanks.

kids like me??? f u pal, I'm 30. it was an 18 wheelers fault so their insurance is paying for it as well they should. hey, if you don't like your insurance rates shop around but don't blame a guy who got hit by an 18 wheeler.

How in the hell did u get hit by an 18 wheeler in the front? Also, what is the point of a CF hood if you're not doing all around weight reduction to the car for track purposes?

And yes, you are taking advantage of the insurance company who is covering your damages. Whether it's your insurance company, or the person at fault's, you're still making everyone else pay for it one way or another.

personally, i dont see what youre bitching at. so you ordered something and it didnt ship for 4 days, so??? and if a company offers any kind of "express" shipping, why would you expect them to split the cost with you???

yeah maybe i am wrong. maybe it should take 11+ days for something to go from LA to Dallas. Yeah, maybe the company should hold my "in stock" order for four days before they ship it. Yeah, maybe I am being unreasonable asking the vehduh to pony up less than $23 to make Sat shipping happen.

SQ Beemer - yeah, my rental car is driving up insurance prices. You're an idiot. The companies have models to forecast loss and trust me, weather they make those numbers or not your insurance isn't going down. Unless it's USAA, but for the other 999,999 companies out there rates don't go down if accidents don't happen

It does affect our rates. They change their "forecasts" based off of the past. If 100,000 customers take advantage of the rental car usage like you are, it'll have an impact. You may not personally be responsible for making everyone's rates go up, but everyone will agree that you are certainly not helping. The more money that insurance companies have to spend, the more they are going to charge in the future. It is basic economics, genius.

You're pretty stressed out for a 30 year old man chatting on-line with some teenagers that are better than you.

A hood has to be shipped truck freight. Generally speaking, you can't just call up a freight company and demand a semi to be there ASAP to get this item. 7/13 was a Thursday, it might not have been possible to get a truck lined up for Friday so they had to wait until Monday, the 17th (most shipping companies won't do pickup/delivery on Saturday).

I would be shocked if a LTL carrier didn't have a truck in LA ready the next day. The time California is hot for trucks is the spring when the fruit and produce are running. That's mostly reefer freight though. LTL wise the LA - Dallas lane is very active and standard service is 4-5 days door to door.
I did supply chain consulting for 6 years out of college.

Notwithstanding the fact that most companies running reefers aren't interested in picking up an LTL load for $48 with thousands of dollars of produce on their truck...

LTL shipping can be a disaster. You should see how much stuff the major companies just destroy.
