Hey Guys,

Some of you may have noticed I've not been around here very much lately, and that will likely be the case for a while to come. In the meantime, I need to hire someone else in my shop, and I'd like to extend the offer to E21ers all over the globe.

Now, before anyone thinks this is for Seams Perfect, it's not. I've also got Pacific Auto Restorations Inc, which runs Seams Perfect, and Classic Image Automotive, my mechanical repair shop. I need someone in the mechanical side of things. More specifically, I need a shop hand, lube tech, hopeful apprentice. I want somone who is looking to break into the business, and wants to stay with a company for a long time to come. We're willing to train, with the goal of an eventual apprenticeship, and a license in the trade. Starting wages are starting wages(just above minimum), but regualr raises are part of the package. Plus, if someone comes in from out of Canada, you're welcome to stay with me, in my home until you're on your feet.

Our shop not only works on 02's, but we also have a steadily increasing clientel with an assortment of 80's, and 90's BMW's, VW's, Volvo's, and we also work on the occasional domestic, should time permit, and should we need or want the cash! 2 hoists, diagnostic equipment, a neat assortment of specialty tools, and a fun environment are also things we offer.

I've always maintained that the best part of old BMW's are the people, so it would make sense that there might be an ideal person for the job in this group!

I have no idea what it requires to come and work in Canada, but I suspect it's not terribly hard, but you may want to do some research first!

Al,

It's not a difficult thing to get a foreigner working in Canada. You just have to prove a few things and do a nominal amount of paperwork.

This would be the job classification (http://www23.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/2001/e/groups/7321.shtml).

This would be how to make it happen (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.html) legally.

I did a four-year master's in Toronto. Fantastic city and fantastic people. I wish I could have stayed there. Who knows, maybe in the future.

Best of luck with your employee search.

I have a 3 bedroom townhouse with three car garage, and I live in it all alone. Should be room to cram your family in, as long as they like my cats!

Anyone with an 81 323i, and a Volvo turbo wagon is OK in my books.

Pay scale will look something like this:

Starting - $8-10/hour, depending on experience.

Once an apprentice - $11/ hour for 1st year.

Yearly wages as per apprenticeship guidelines. Journeyman techs in my shop earn $22/hour. You will be there in 4 years.

This kind of thing has always been very popular in Germany. 3 days of work follow 2 days of school.

Here you work for 10 months, and then 2 months of school. School is paid for the gov't. All you have to do is show up. In 4 years, you'll be a licensed auto mechanic.

I have met erzengel13 in person and he seems like a straight-up guy with some drive and determination. No long-term knowledge or anything, but a bump for a good young guy.

An Albertan to the core? Yet, you have a Roughriders logo on your avitar? I can't afford another journeyman right now anyway, I need an apprentice. Unless you want to work for apprentice wages!
