View Full Version : 2006 330i Mods??? cleaner 07-20-2006, 02:53 AM Whats the best intro mods to do to a 330i? Without breaking the bank but still adding some extra kick.... Thanks for the info. Miami Bimmer06 07-20-2006, 08:15 AM No matter what you do, your gonna have to break the bank, hey its a bimmer!!!! estorilblau 07-20-2006, 03:08 PM if you have an 06 330i didnt you already break the bank :) cleaner 07-21-2006, 01:55 AM Want to know what mods would help? Miami Bimmer06 07-21-2006, 08:34 AM That true I have a 06 330i and it broke the bank, but hey once you drive it its all worth it, I have the premium package and sports pakage and comfort, I dint get the cold package since I live in Miami and have no need for it. but sprt, premium, and comfort is a mu$$$t =) chris@evosport 07-21-2006, 11:51 AM you actually have a fair amount of options, i just dont know if you're looking more so for performance, suspension , brakes, etc- I know AFE has an intake for your car, both tein and H&R have suspension for you car, and Rotora and brembo make brakes for the car- then you naturally have your wide selection of wheels, stereo, and what not, hope that helps you out a little- if you need help with anything, just let me know, thanks- cleaner 07-21-2006, 12:37 PM This helps thanks! Do you think AFE and H&R are the best? chris@evosport 07-21-2006, 01:22 PM For intakes, I honestly really do like AFE, and that's not from a typical salesman's pov; i like the fit, finish, and how it ultilizes the stock airvent for the car. That's also from a performanc fit finish pov, but for sound, i love the gruppe m sound on the e90, granted you might be losing power haha- its still a beautiful intake with good sound and throttle respone. As for H&R they're product is also top quality, i mean heck i believe it's OEM suspension for porsche haha- i like how the ride on H&R is, smooth refined, and gives it that sporty touch, anyways that's just my $.02, if you have any questions, let me know thanks- Miami Bimmer06 07-21-2006, 01:45 PM for now im trying to keep, my car stock, i got the sport package so i like the wheels it came with, plus i payed xtra for them. maybe later on, i'll do some engine work chris@evosport 07-21-2006, 02:37 PM for now im trying to keep, my car stock, i got the sport package so i like the wheels it came with, plus i payed xtra for them. maybe later on, i'll do some engine work Yeah, take your time, haha i know my comment may have seemed directed at you, however it was more so for cleaner and everyone in general on this thread- at first it's definitely best to keep the car stock so that way you can get used to how everything is and then once you begin to modify your car you'll notice a greater difference because you'll have had a better understanding of what's really changed. There's never a rush to modify any car, just enjoy it and when you want to start, start, hope I'll be able to help you out- anyways enjoy! Miami Bimmer06 07-21-2006, 03:58 PM I know what you mean, I didnt take it in a bad way at all, i always modify my cars around the 2nd year of having it, if i do it will mosdef be the engine. looks I love the 18's and hey run-flats, who can replace those..... but yes engine work will be for sure and I will contact you if I do need something which I know I will. chris@evosport 07-21-2006, 04:27 PM I know what you mean, I didnt take it in a bad way at all, i always modify my cars around the 2nd year of having it, if i do it will mosdef be the engine. looks I love the 18's and hey run-flats, who can replace those..... but yes engine work will be for sure and I will contact you if I do need something which I know I will. Alright, sounds good to me, yeah like i said enjoy your car, its brand new! haha get used to it and all before you start doing any modifications, this also allows you to see if there's any potential problems with the car and really be able to utilize your warranty. thanks! when you're ready ill help you out- thanks again cleaner 07-21-2006, 06:01 PM Cool thanks for the info! Do you know if the "sport package" has different suspension. if so, is it pretty good? thanks agian for all your help. chris@evosport 07-21-2006, 06:38 PM on the e90 i believe the sports package lowers the car just a tiny tiny bit, little firmer, etc- but it should give you different wheels and some other options, i could be more specific on an E46 as far as explaining the sport package but i couldnt really see it being too much different, but hey i could be wrong- cleaner 07-22-2006, 02:07 AM Thanks.. for the info... chris@evosport 07-24-2006, 11:39 AM glad to help out, if anyone has any questions, feel free to either pm or email me and I'll do my best to help you out. BMWoo 07-24-2006, 05:53 PM I'm interested in some speed mods as well, but nothing that would void my warranty. I'm okay with putting $1,000 into it, but not much more than that. I'm getting into a 330i with prem/sport, and I like the appearance - may end up going up an inch on rims/tires, but that's not a priority now. What would you recommend from really just the acceleration perspective, that wouldn't absolutely kill my wallet? Thanks. LWL 07-25-2006, 01:39 AM Chris, Did you actually see and try the AFE intake for E90 330i?? I am in the market for an intake now, but couldn't find one that gets really good feedback, except for expensive Gruppe M intake. Can you get into more detail about AFE intake, in particularly on E90? Miami Bimmer06 07-25-2006, 10:10 AM yea maybe we can have a group purchase chris@evosport 07-25-2006, 02:46 PM Chris, Did you actually see and try the AFE intake for E90 330i?? I am in the market for an intake now, but couldn't find one that gets really good feedback, except for expensive Gruppe M intake. Can you get into more detail about AFE intake, in particularly on E90? Yes, we have. In fact I have to say it's one the of cleanest fitting intakes on the market. The fit and finish is second to none, the stock upper air vent is still utilized in the intake system which helps with both performance and appearence. As far as power gains, they vary, but AFE has claimed 6.5hp and 7lbs/ft of torque to the wheels I believe. The intake gives a really nice deep tone to the car too. FOR A GROUP BUY- I will need at least 10 people who're 100% ready to purchase the intake. I'll be able to offer you guys the intake at $416 plus tax and or shipping, if applicable, and a $40 Evosport coupon (same as cash) along with the deal. If anyone has any questions, feel free to email or pm me directly, thanks for your time, I appreciate it everyone! rexchampman 07-25-2006, 06:36 PM would this intake fit the 325i? also, know of any exhausts that coupled with the intake give a real noticeable difference in power? chris@evosport 07-26-2006, 12:08 PM yes, this intake will aslo fit the 325i. As far as an exhaust that would fit and perform on that car, I'd go eisenmann $840 for the cat-back piping and $940(race) $885 (sport) for the muffler (2x76 mm tips). As mentioned before if I can get 10 buyers I can do a group buy on the intake for you guys. rexchampman 07-28-2006, 05:21 PM do you know what kind of power gains can be had on the exhaust? i have a 325, dont need to touch the suspension yet, but could really use more power. i figure the 330i had 40 more HP, im sure i can find a set up that will give me at least that for under 5k (basically the price diff. in the 330. chris@evosport 07-28-2006, 05:32 PM Well to bridge that gap in horsepower, I'd go with the AFE intake, Powerchip Software, and an Eisenmann exhaust- that will help out but I doubt it'll cover the gap completely, maybe 25-30hp with everything, I'll definitely check more into it for you though- LWL 07-28-2006, 10:47 PM Well to bridge that gap in horsepower, I'd go with the AFE intake, Powerchip Software, and an Eisenmann exhaust- that will help out but I doubt it'll cover the gap completely, maybe 25-30hp with everything, I'll definitely check more into it for you though- The powerchip software for E90 hasn't been released right? chris@evosport 07-31-2006, 11:22 AM The powerchip software for E90 hasn't been released right? no not just yet- but I was referring to it for future reference, it's the only way i could really see you clearing the gap between the two cars, the software (once completed), the afe intake, and headers/exhaust- if you can manage to pick up headers in conjunction with everything else, that should be able to do it- rexchampman 07-31-2006, 04:27 PM when is the powerchip supposed to come out? how reliable is it? im guessing it voids my warranty? How long before its out? How much all in are we talking including labor - 2k? Is Dinan coming out with anything? Thanks for the insight! chris@evosport 07-31-2006, 05:10 PM when is the powerchip supposed to come out? how reliable is it? im guessing it voids my warranty? How long before its out? How much all in are we talking including labor - 2k? Is Dinan coming out with anything? Thanks for the insight! 1) I'm not 100% sure on when it'll be released, shouldn't be too far away 2) It's very reliable, it's dyno proven power, I'm not sure on the warranty being voided for having it, i highly doubt it 3) 2k for what? the software or other parts intake, exhaust, header, software, etc? if so it'll be a good amount more than that- 4) I dunno if Dinan is or will be coming out with anything, I appologize. rexchampman 08-01-2006, 06:57 PM dont apologize...youve been more than helpful. So the powerchip, is it a one-time deal, are there different settings? and where is a good place to get the intake, exhaust, headers? any parts from other year BMWs or other models, thinking of trying to pick up some lightly used parts if possible. thanks again chris@evosport 08-02-2006, 01:29 PM dont apologize...youve been more than helpful. So the powerchip, is it a one-time deal, are there different settings? and where is a good place to get the intake, exhaust, headers? any parts from other year BMWs or other models, thinking of trying to pick up some lightly used parts if possible. thanks again The powerchip software can be installed or removed on demand by the customer so it's as many times of a deal as you want to take it off or put it on. There's a high octane setting from powerchip also if you're planning on running 93 or higher. I would say Evosport is a good place naturally, haha- We have both the intake and the software, now as for the header and exhaust system, we no longer carry supersprint, so we could help you with what we can as best we can. I wouldn't know of any used aftermarket part for the E90, as the car itself is still relatively new you know, but I'll definitely look around a bit. jamesclay 08-04-2006, 12:45 AM Best bang for the buck, without a doubt, on my car was the diff change. chris@evosport 08-04-2006, 11:04 AM I'm curious as to which diff you switched too? jamesclay 08-04-2006, 03:41 PM I'm curious as to which diff you switched too? Higher ratio, still an open though. H20@100 08-06-2006, 01:55 AM the best mod is trade it for a e46 hehe chris@evosport 08-07-2006, 11:17 AM ^ :lol The E90 is actually a very good platform.... jamesclay 08-07-2006, 11:25 AM Indeed... chris@evosport 08-07-2006, 11:28 AM Ah! There's a pic of my car!:D haha jk- the car looks great! how's it doing on the track, do you guys like it better than your guy's E46? rexchampman 08-08-2006, 04:32 PM Yeah I was thinking of trading it in for an e46, but Id lose too much money. I love the car, handles great stock prob wont touch suspension for a long while, but the only thing is missing is power...lots of it (and reliable) i just couldnt justify the extra cash for the 330i, figured i could make up the power with less money... chris@evosport 08-08-2006, 05:21 PM you can always get more power from your car, it's going to cost a little more you know, i mean yeah the difference in pricing for the parts would either equal or exceed the difference in cost between the 325 and 330, however, in the end you'll end up with similar power and a great sounding car modded to your likes- however at the end of the day its up to you with what you do to your car- enjoy it! |
