Lets keep this thread positive without complaints about the car, pricing, etc. :)
This is the first car that Ive ever sold thats been modified in any way so it will be interesting to see what happens. It usually takes me 30-60 days to sell a car but I'm really considering sending it over to Park Place. I really struggled with pricing so I went off of what Park Place wanted to ask less consignment fees... I already have an email on Craigslist asking "how firm on price are you?" :stickoutt I couldnt believe we have dealers asking 16k for 328i's on AutoTrader.
Anyways, thought I'd let you guys have a look.

Wow, nice Chris. I haven't seen your car in a while. Did you put the M3 badge? I am not asking to bash on you, I am just curious because it looks like someone has spared no expense to make it look as much like an M3 as possible (I mean c'mon... door sills even? :dunno ).
I'm considering buying it myself! Good advertisement.
Landerholm 07-20-2006, 04:34 AM Thanks for the kind words Jesse. A friend of mine gave me the badge and after some careful measuring I put it on there... I wasnt going to do it until I got the exhaust tips and steering wheel taken care of but I really wanted to leave them, so. Anyone on the street with an eye good enough to notice can make fun of me and shame me all they want and I will shake their hand. :) I know its a touchy topic but its not about status or being fast... It was about getting the silver M3 sedan I always wanted without paying for it twice after insurance.

I hear ya... I didn't want to spend $20k on an M3 and then another $30k in mods over the next few years (especially when those mods replace just about every component that makes an M3 an M3!), and that's why I have my 328i. I haven't debadged it yet... I am considering it though... :D It will just look cleaner. However I kind of like the idea of people seeing the "328i" on the back - as I drop down 3rd gear and pass them! Has more impact, ya know? :D
mitchelrl 07-20-2006, 09:01 AM Dan got 17k for his Baby M with 100,000 miles... maybe you'll find the right buyer too.
iredlinemy///m3 07-20-2006, 09:30 AM Dan got 17k for his Baby M with 100,000 miles... maybe you'll find the right buyer too.
But Dan's '99 328is was a Baby M from the FACTORY. ;)
Alpine 318is 07-20-2006, 03:24 PM I hate to be an ass but WTF is that M3 badge doing on the back of a 328?
Landerholm 07-20-2006, 04:40 PM Its sort of like those Carrera RS 2.7 repliacs with the big RS 2.7 decals on the side. I thought long and hard about if the badge would hurt or help the sale but Park Place told me to leave it. Which isnt to say I wouldnt be annoyed having to buy an 840ci with an 850ci badge on the back. That was irritating.
I actually didnt expect to get anywhere near what I was asking but with dealer listed 328i's on AutoTrader at the same price, it would be an insult to the car to list it for less. I always get a premium for my cars and this will be the first one I havent sold for a profit. :( I would like to know more about Dan's M-Tech 328is? Curious to know how long it took him to get $1k over what I'm asking....doubtless the car was worth more being newer and a coupe. Link??? Park Place wanted to list mine at $17,xxx.
///w3fl3x 07-20-2006, 05:38 PM Saw your add yesterday. Car looks nice.
Park place is a rip off if you know anything about cars. But yes they do have nice cars there. You can also find the same quality for cheaper elsewhere like from a private seller with a realistic selling price.
I was confused looking at it but the cluster gave it away. :) Eventually the seats did too.

Thank you :wave That means alot.

Actually the none-stripe seats were on the lux edition 97 M3s as well as a month or two of the sports edition M3s where they ran out of that hide. The steering wheel and the exhaust tips are the worst giveaways. An M3 cluster was in the works too but I am suddenly forced to sell at this point in my life. I think I will send it to Park Place once my garage for it goes away if it still hasnt sold.
Is $15k going to be an unreasonable goal? :dunno
Ty Vil 07-20-2006, 06:43 PM Wow the car looks REALLY REALLY nice. Lose the M3 badge tho and that's all i'm going to say about that.

No the seats gave it away cause it's not as plushy as the lux seats. They're stiff looking like the 3 series seats and that's cause they are.
The stripe don't really mean anything on non-vader seats. It means you have a lower grade leather cause they ran out if you have the stripes.
As for the cluster... it was the white needles. :D
I would think you should expect a bit lower cause in that price range an m3 could easily be had.
I don't agree with the m badging either but whatever it's your car.

Actually the late 98 build cars without the stripes are "leather credit" cars using cheaper leather. If the original owner wanted the retrofit they'd have the stripes on the headrests.
Seats with the stripes are the nicer leather.
mitchelrl 07-21-2006, 09:20 AM I would definately lose the ///M3 Badge.
Landerholm 07-21-2006, 06:04 PM Thank you for the compliment Ty :)
Do we think $13,995 is an unreasonable bottom line?
Ty Vil 07-21-2006, 07:24 PM I'd LOVE to own this car but it's not in my budget right now.
Send me an email and we'll discuss your other questions.

That's because they are expected to get talked down a couple grand. Take it from me; dealers always ask more than it's worth because there is always the chance that someone will get so emotionally attached to it (or will run into JUST the right salesperson) that they'll pay full sticker. :dunno

Your only competition is a higher mileage REAL M3 going for only 10k in Portland. :D
It happens to be an M3/4, and the same color.. ;)
Landerholm 07-22-2006, 03:59 AM Yes those dang real M3s! What are you going to do.
$13,995 is the lowest amount I could stomach taking for the car. I sat down and did all the numbers and it just hurts... I have gotten a few emails at the current price on Craigslist but I literally need this car gone in the next two weeks. This is the worst disaster of a car sale I've ever had to go through. Forced sale, selling in a rush, selling at a substantial loss...I just want to cry.
So I can either keep it at $15,995 or just flat out list it at my best price. Not really sure which way to go.
coldblooded 328 07-22-2006, 01:48 PM very nice car man, sorry you have to let it go. I would wait a while, eventually someone who appreciates all that has been done to it will come along and buy it.
Landerholm 07-22-2006, 04:32 PM If only time came in a bottle....

If only Chris would stop smoking crack cocaine...
;)
Landerholm 07-22-2006, 11:47 PM Now jess this 328 wouldnt look nearly as good if I was high as a kite when I installed the bodywork.
I still cant bring myself to list it at $13,995. Thats taking an extra $2,000 loss. I keep thinking someone will come look at it and fall in love.... I firmly believe I could get $15,000 for it if I had 3 months just because of the condition its in. My biggest challange is the M3 sedans that are priced in the same area. I need the buyer that wants cheap insurance and doesnt care about 40hp. (Anyones grandparents interested... lol :) )
