I have a BSW box (the one that hangs from the rear deck) on the way for my 99 M3 coupe and not sure where to mount the amp. I'll be removing the box for drives/autoX/track, where is a good stealthy place in the coupe's rear that still has decent ventilation? Anyone with the BSW box? post up your amp mount pics...

I have the same box that is deck mounted also, I mounted the amp on the back of the seat....i can still fold the seat forward for access to the trunk...i decided to mount it on the passenger side.....also these trunks are insulated well and the bass sounds alot better when you flip the back seat down...

Typically we will mount the amplifier to the back of one of the seats.

Also, given the right equipment, you shouldn't need to fold the seats down, although doing so will certainly increase output.

That's what I have...

My NINe.1 amp doesn't fit on a seatback horizontally, and I don't really want to mount it vertically. I just dropped it on the floor, didn't even bolt it down, it doesn't move. :buttrock

[edit] Remove your rear 4" speakers. They suck, and with them gone, the bass really sounds good. You can't even tell when you're missing them, to be honest.

I mounted my amp on the side of the trunk, near where the stock amp was, i'll post up a pic later

You'll want to use 4 .75" drywall screws with small washers if needed.

Micah,
Where do you ground the amps when you install the amps on the rear of the seats? I have them grounded now to the bolt the factory battery ground is, but the ground wire for these e9's is only about a foot long.

The ground wire can be as long as you make it. Typically we will ground to chassis or OEM location and move only if we have ground loop noise (doesn't happen with a sub system and happens only rarely with a 4 channel system).

what kind of amp is it?? i hid my small mono block amps behind the left and right quarterpanels, respectively. there was a bulge on the passenger side, but it looked fine. you can hide a BIG amp behind the driver side rear quarterpanel and it won't bulge at all. i fit an amp, two crossovers, a satellite radio box and an ipod box behind there with no bulges whatsoever.

put it back there if you want a very stealthy install.

The amps we are most commonly using are the Elemental Designs amplifiers (Nine.4, etc.) A lot depends on the shape of the amp more than the size.
