Does anyone else get rust on the inner lower part of their tail lights??
I used to have rust forming on one side, now the other has started.
I was thinking of putting some silicone around the lenses and under the black plastic bit inbetween the lights.
I also need a new trunk seal :embarrasm
Anyone done any patch jobs to rid this?

tail light gaskets have failed, mine have done the same.
The best thing you can do is remove the rust otherwise its going to keep coming back (and spreading). I used my dremel to grind around in the area and remove the rust and scale, treated the whole area with converter, then i used some filler to fill in the small areas left by the removal. Problem is if it has rusted out far enough it will be visible from the outside which means you are going to need to respray the area. If you dont have plans to paint the car in the near future, one of the touch up guys should be able to do it fairly cheaply.
I used some rubber from clark rubber to replace the seal, just cut it out of the matting and used the old one for a template. You could use cork too if you wanted.

If it doesn't show when the trunk is down, treat the rusted area with loctite "extend" after you wire brush/demel the rust away and you'll be good to go.
