Hi,
What is the official weight of the E46 M3? Does it vary by year? Does it vary by how the car is optioned?

Thank you for your help.

cant tell you the exact weight but yes options do play a role in the weight. Obviously a base coupe with no moonroof and no power seats with the manual would be the lightest (not sure if the smg actually adds weight?!?) While the vert with power seats would be the heaviest...so depending on your set of options there could be 100's of lbs difference between dif m3s...i know that isnt the exact answer you're looking for but hopefully it helps.

3415 is the official weight and I believe that includes driver and full tank of gas without the premium package.

The vert adds 300lbs.

No way does that weight include the driver unless they hired a jockey to sit in it.

AFAIK, the 3415 weight is for a "typically optioned" coupe.

Your right ... my mistake, the weight is for a basic package M3 at 3415... the alignment settings I have include weight for driver and full tank of gas. Got confused for a second.

Just looked at my notes from corner balancing, and mine weighs 3,340 with full tank, no driver. But, my car has no options, so the 3,415 sounds about right for a car with average options.

Was that with the OE wheels?

That was with the stock ZCP wheels. It would be a bit lighter with the OZ wheels now on it.

holy god!!!! heavier than a toyota supra...

and faster (then stock) and handles better...and cheaper considerign the ridiculous price you pay for a 10 year old toyota...those things are cool because of the power potential but i believe anyone who spends 30k on a 1994-1997 car with normally 75+k miles is a tool...but you can blaim that on the fast and the furious

sorry for the off topic rant

Mine is 3200 lbs with a half tank of gas.

No moonroof, nav, premium package, etc.

Recaro seats, Gruppe M exhaust, 18" factory wheels.

My last E36 M3 had a rare moonroof delete option and my last & current E46 has a moonroof delete option so needless to say I am a big fan.

Did both of you order the car from the factory that way?

Yes. Mine has no options except xenon lights. I've never seen a similar E46 M3 in dealer inventory. I guess it's good that I like it; the resale market might be poor for it.

Yes, only options are HK, Xenons and CB paint. The dealer thought I was crazy ordering it that way. Chances of finding a non-moonroof car in dealer stock is very low, but they seem to pop up regularly on the used car market. FYI, SMG adds about 20 pounds.

Another 'moonroofless' M3 here....only options were leather and HK....

+1 to the no moonroof club.

A lot of people say it is really bad to have an M3 with no moonroof and attempt to sell it.

Guess what?

If I ever sell my M3 it will be titled:

"*EXTREMELY* RARE 2006 E46 M3, ONE OWNER!!"

The "extremely rare" part comes from the lack of sunroof. I'd use it as a big selling point towards the car to get more attention - an M3 without a moonroof is a very rare find and that's a fact. Take that haters!

My curb weight is 3267lbs (corner balanced several weeks ago).

Only mods are lightweight battery, lightweight wheels+tires. Options include SMG+PDC, leather, power seats, xenons.

In the works are race seats for -100lbs and full exhaust for -60lbs (mabye more?).

If I take out the rear seat for track days I would have a weight in the 3000lb range for what will still be a daily driver :redspot

Very nice...Just bought an E46 M3 with one of those silly moonroof things that I will never use and will most likely leak...Jealous!!!
